Also, I have a tendency to be ruthless in my pursuit of excellence and anything less would be unacceptable in my line of work.
So stating that as a starting point if things don't change very soon, I would do this...
DFA, Ryan, Jones, and Capuano for starters. Or trade.
Bring up Refsnyder (2nd base), use Drew as backup for 2nd /SS, and keep Pirela as Utility man.
Find a way to replace CC in the rotation.
We could end up with a rotation of...Pineda, Nova, Tank, Whitley, Eovaldi and set-up a six-man rotation with any number of guys for the sixth man. One of which would be passed over (CC?) if there is a day off.
Then again maybe CC will surprise me and become the second coming of "The Moose", after all, is said and done, CC is not that far off!
In a perfect world, that would be done...maybe, maybe not, who knows?!?

Long winded enough guys?Ken Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07134936968221887101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-51428316893310886042015-05-08T17:23:56.732-04:002015-05-08T17:23:56.732-04:00I was addressing the straight fastball only Daniel...I was addressing the straight fastball only Daniel. Yes, it would be best to have at the minimum of three good pitches but, with command and control of two (one being 97+) he can get by unless one isn't working that night. Which was his problem the other night! Hitting the middle of the plate to many times sure isn't the way win.
Something to think about with him is...can he really develop two good pitches? If he can, what a number 1 he would make for the next 5 years or more!Ken Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07134936968221887101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-38368747617560842992015-05-08T12:38:58.819-04:002015-05-08T12:38:58.819-04:00I think we all hope that Capuano would be traded b...I think we all hope that Capuano would be traded but I think that we all know he won't be. Curve ball outside sets up the inside fastball, etc. No one is worried about Eovaldi's breaking stuff on a normal day, although his slider is developing nicely, and that I think is the problem. Not many can throw one pitch and win no matter how much command and control he had. See Mariano Rivera who had many pitches as a starter but couldn't use them effectively forcing him to flourish in the bullpen (Betances too) when he simplified it to two, and eventually one, pitch. By the way, his fastball has a bit of movement but he sets it in the meat of the zone too much. Up, down, side to side, at the hands and high around the letters. Warren goes to the BP because he is better out of the Pen than as a starter...for an inning or two his change of pace and nasty stuff works well. Capuano is ok, but we need more than ok, Trade him.
Until Tanaka and Nova come back then I see Tanaka, Pineda, Eovaldi, Nova and Whitley. I am waiting for someone to stand up and move CC to the pen or find a reason to put him on the DL. He has shown improvement, but he still gives up too many hits at the wrong time.
