If I were to go by what I have seen this year...he is outta here!
In AA, AAA he was great in everything except his shot-gun arm! I thought, he could get that under control with the right teaching...foot-work, foot-work and foot-work.
As of now, he is it...unless they sign the great glove, no-hit guy to play there...which sounds good to me!
What say you?ken reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07501114589046544682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-2908674486199723112013-09-25T09:48:40.142-04:002013-09-25T09:48:40.142-04:00ranger, maybe you're right. He has been better this year with the glove than he was last year so maybe he is just a late bloomer defensively, I dunno. I hope so but you can't tell. The guy had been playing out of his element last and this year. He is a SS and nothing more, they tried to make him a jack of all trades...not a good idea.
In high school and college one can get away with playing all over the infield but, this ain't high school.
As one that played many years as a 2nd baseman, the footwork and your reads are much more of an issue playing with the big guys. Every position has different footwork etc., the throws are different along with the reads. Most Utility players have a few years experience in the bigs but he was thrown into the job without and minor league training at all...not good for a slow learner.
More work at SS is what he needs and should get over the winter months.ken reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07501114589046544682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-60795538219197959422013-09-24T13:23:05.411-04:002013-09-24T13:23:05.411-04:00I don't see Nunez as anything more than a good...I don't see Nunez as anything more than a good bench player. Perhaps he'd make a good regular on other teams, but the Yankees are certainly not "other teams".
