It's not like he didn't have a shot to sign with a heavy spender like New York..... and he would be basically through the arbitration process by now if he did.Daniel Burchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04212584396848733519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-13698183160266694462016-02-29T23:03:23.542-05:002016-02-29T23:03:23.542-05:00It's how baseball works. Put in the time, play well for 5 years, then you'll get a 70+ million dollar contract for a late 20s starting pitcher.

I thought the comments were taken out of context. Never enough! Look at Jose Bautista, he may want around $30,000,000 a year for 5 years (just a guess of course) for playing a kids game.
Please tell me how a family of 12 are not going to be able to live on even $5,000,000 a year and the rest put away in (tax Free) accounts for the kids and grand-kids and great-grand-kids when they get out of college.
A-Rod IF he plays next year will have made over $420,285,104+ and Jeter made $265,159,364+ over his 20 years.
Damn, that is a poor excuse for a raise or contract, but that is what they always say.Ken Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07134936968221887101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-62843134861426205832016-02-29T16:41:23.702-05:002016-02-29T16:41:23.702-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Daryl https://www.blogger.com/profile/12405687520642126665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-80274533399481441052016-02-29T16:03:50.059-05:002016-02-29T16:03:50.059-05:00Well said Jeff. it's true. I read it too and thought to myself, wahhhhhhhh. Makes half a million dollars for seven months of work in his early 20's. Must be rough.Daniel Burchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04212584396848733519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2676591017018865408.post-81421426615873649192016-02-29T13:18:41.892-05:002016-02-29T13:18:41.892-05:00I know it doesn't have anything to do with thi...I know it doesn't have anything to do with this list, but I just read an article about Gerrit Cole crying about his $541,000 salary. This is the same guy that didn't sign out of high school because he thought he would be a higher draft pick if he pitched in college for a couple years. I have 2 thoughts on this. First, he comes off as being pretty greedy, which may implicate some character issues. Second, when is enough enough with baseball players? Teams draft, sign, and develop these guys. By the time a player reaches the major leagues, a team has literally millions of dollars invested in the player. When you consider that most drafted players never make it, teams lose obscene amounts of money in developing. They have a very brief 3 year period when they can recoup some of these expenses before arbitration starts. Does Cole's performance warrant a bigger salary? Yes it does. Does he deserve a bigger salary? No, not right now. Shut up and do your job you baby! Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05687487174545518045noreply@blogger.com
