According to Jon Heyman there is a "good chance" Rafael Soriano opts out of his contract, which is set to pay him $14 million in 2013, making him a free agent after this season. If Mariano doesn't return, then that could make the bullpen pretty iffy, as I don't see any way the Yankees re-sign Soriano to a multi-year contract. Heck, Cashman didn't want to sign him in the first place. Of course, if the team needs to fill the closer role, then that could change.
Does Soriano want to close THAT much or is 14 million worth more?
