The New York Yankees designated Chris Bootcheck for assignment on Tuesday and he has cleared waivers and has re signed with the Yankees. The minor league deal will send Bootcheck down to AAA Scranton Wilkes Barre to play for the Railriders. Initially he rejected being outrighted to AAA and electred free agency but then signed another minor league deal so who knows why that was. The new deal includes an August 15th opt out day if he is not in the major leagues so that explains the new deal.
