Robinson Cano & Yankees Far Apart In Contract Talks

According to Jon Heyman Robinson Cano and the New York Yankees are far apart in contract negotiations. Robinson Cano is seeking a contract in the neighborhood of the Alex Rodriguez contract of 10 years and $275 million. The Yankees are countering with the contract that David Wright recently received from the New York Mets at 8 years and $138 million. When Jay Z became Cano's agent we all thought this was all but a formality and that Cano would sign rather quickly but that does not seem to be the case, not right now anyway. If you ask me right now it looks like we will be offering Robinson Cano a qualifying offer and he will test free agency. A lot can change in 90 or so games plus the playoffs.
