This Day In Yankees History 6/8
On this day in 1927 Yankees Tony Lazzeri becomes the first Yankee to hit three home runs in one game. The Yankees would beat the Chicago White Sox 12-11 in 11 innings on this day behind the offensive outburst.
On this day in 1969 the Yankees retired jersey number 7 and called the day Mickey Mantle day in honor of their All Star outfielder.

This Mickey Mantle picture simply cannot be from 1969. Robert Kennedy is in the picture. It is actually September 18, 1965.
