  1. Nova has become the Yankee ace at the right time. Like to see the Yanks bring up Whitley to start and Betances in the pen in Sept. Both have earned it. Sounds like Huff is going to take Hughes next start.

  2. Like to see Murphy called up also!

  3. Betances has been a whipping boy for some fans for a few years now, tall pitchers need time. He is only 25(?) years old and has shown some talent as a RP and very little less, as a starter! It looks to me like he could be a good RP and develop into a very good starter...he has the work, now he needs to put it all together. I think he can do it!
Hughes is toast, with his (and Jobas) talents, it is a shame they have digressed so far. We do have people to replace them in Huff, Whitley, Clailborne, Phelps, Warren, Murphy, Cabral, and Pineda.

I only see CC, Nova, and maybe Phelps/Karoda as starters next year, with the developement of the seven above, anyone think we should go after a high-priced pitcher and pass on a big time position player?

  4. Ken - TWASP agrees with you. Still hoping Pineda , or is it piƱata , gets back to form to join skinny CC, Kuroda and Nova. If a free agent pitcher is available , go for it, it's only money.

  5. I disagree, we have a greater need for keeping Cano and finding one or two, very good, young players.
IF we lose Cano, Granderson and Sory we must replace them with young top line players. Without some power in the line-up, well...you saw the pressure the pitchers were under all year!
Of course, we could bring up a kid or two from the farm but, are there any kids really ready for the pressure of NY and Prime Time yet?
Rommy has finally shown what we knew he had...talent, not great but, well enough to play well in the Big Show as a #1 on some teams, maybe even the Yankees.

  6. Ken- I agree with you. We MUST keep Cano . Talent like his come along once every 50 years. But we can keep Cano AND pay for pitching. Aroids salary will be coming off the books soon.

  7. Ken - what happened to Patrick? Why isn't he posting here anymore?

  8. Where is Matt S. ? Earth to Matt S ......come in Matt S.......

  9. If A-Rod gets a year off we have his money for a year only. And if he works out and rests his hip he will be better than he is now. Until they find a 3rd basemen somewhere, that is better or the Doctors say he is unfit to play he will still be under contract.
Do you really think the Tampa Cabal will let whomever is the GM next year, spend more money? I think this is Cashmans contract year, if it is he may be gone. He once told The King he wanted no more interference from the Tampa Cabal and was granted his wish. Now, with the kids and their new toy running around with Randy (A bookkeeper) they think they know how to pick and choose good players....ergo, A-Rods contract!

  10. Totally agree, pitching is a science, the process of becoming a good one takes time. Look at Nova, he is coming into his own, and then you have Harvey. Sometimes pitchers are ready for the big leagues at different times in the process. Arm injuries may be random, but my feeling is that the more a pitcher throws when they are young the higher the chance of injury later. These club teams should have at least 10 pitchers on their team. This way the pitcher won't be abused I think Pineda will be good, but it might be in 2 or 3 years. I would look for Betances and Banuelos to take big steps forward next year.

  11. Aroid after his appeal is heard will be suspended for PEDS and obstruction. The Yankees will try to get out of the rest of his contract because he will not be worth 30m per year. They will succeed. They hate him. They would rather have the money and get a better 3rd baseman with less headaches. Can you blame them?

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, I can't blame them for wanting to get out of the contract but, it ain't gonna happen!
They signed the contract, the league signed off on it...is it A-Rods fault the Brothers Dumb where so stupid?
They pay and play him or he sits home and gets paid!
The only way they can void the contract is if he is banned for life or the duration of his contract.
Then go to court being sued for collusion and win!

  13. If Aroid didn't abuse his body with PEDS he probably would have been a good player through the contract length. But he did drugs, lied about it and commited fraud. The contract will be voided and you will have to go into hiding again.

  14. Tommy Twasp, good evening. Good to see your words.
    Hope all is well.

  15. There is no way to get out of it, other than a lifetime ban or medical reasons. If there was a way they would have done it by now.
Once the contracts are signed and countersigned by the players union and the commissioner it is solid as gold in the bank.
Also, you forget one thing, he has not been found guilty of PEDs or anything else.
As for his playing ability, with or without, he is still very good...I wonder how well you would stand-up under the pressure he has been under the last few years?

    ReplyDelete
  16. It will all come out soon. Once the appeal is heard and it becomes public that Aroid lied again, used PEDS , and then obstructed the investigation. The guys a psychopathic liar. That's why he can tune out the negative.... and actually believe his own BS. The real question is why does the Talking Toupee believe it when nobody else does?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nobody cares about PEDs anymore, everyone is sick of the banter! Every team and every championship for the last 20 years was touched by PED abuse.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Doug , everyone is talking about Aroid Nd PEDS. It even was the lead in most national news papers. Are you sick of the banter because you used PEDS and was cut from your team because of it? Open up..... We are here for you...

  19. Have you ever heard a guilty person tell the truth until the truth comes out? Do I believe him...NO but, unlike you, I don't find him guilty on some newspaper news nor the word of a convicted liar pending charges himself.
I never indicated anything about believing him...ever!
He has been one of the best players to come along in the last 40+ years by far...stats prove it, his talent proves it.
So he cheated, before the PEDs were banned. Good god, are you so dense you don't know all the greats of yesteryear cheated one way or another. The difference is, it was all covered up back then by the beat writers and no Internet.
Just remember this, 75 more hits and he will be the only power hitter in the 3,000 hit club. Right now he has the 2nd best avg. on the team and he is coming back from a major hip surgery. Not bad for an old washed-up PEDs user is it?
Come on, get with it...like or hate him all you want to but, don't try to deny his God-given talent and trash it and everything he has accomplished in his 20 years.
Other than BS from haters on blogs, no one has said he used before Texas, try computing his numbers up to that time and avg it out over 20 years and you will see he has been a great player.
I had a sgt. that I never talked to I disliked him so much but, his talent was unmistakable and unequaled...we worked together for 4 years.
So, my dislike of A-Rod doesn't mean I can't respect his talent!

  20. Clueless Ken.... He probably has been doing PEDS since Seattle or earlier. Wake up and smell the geritol And without it he would have been a very good player and would have hit about as many hrs as Soriano. Very good but no Mickey or Willie. Remember he was also a very selfish player who choked in most post seasons. That's why Jeter is superior.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What a game tonight.....you gotta love Nunez.....what a big hit for the youngster. He has the mental toughness and quick bat to be an all-star one day.

    ReplyDelete
  22. We are going to make the PLAYOFFS!

    ReplyDelete
  23. BS but, have it your way. As doug said most fans are tuned out on the whole thing. I am also!

    -----Done----!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You have got it now but, it wasn't long ago you were saying otherwise...as the page turns!

That is ok bug, you have seen the light so I'll let it pass. Now you know why I want him playing SS most of the time. Heck, even A-Rod showed more range than the other SS and turned a nice DP the other night.
Not picking on Jeter at all, just pointing out the obvious facts...he is 40 years old and coming off a ankle injury= no Range!
Nunez has greater range and is a slow learner, until he learns when to hold'um and when to throw'um he will make errors...that is part of the learning curve!
