Dodgers Just Signed Cano Back With The Yankees

The Los Angeles Dodgers just basically, barring a huge unforeseen happening, ensured that Robinson Cano will be back with the Yankees in 2014 and beyond. Let's face it, again unless something really out of the blue happens, the only people that have an open spot and can afford Cano were the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees. Well the Dodgers got their man today when they officially signed Cuban defector and second baseman Alexander Guerrero. Guerrero signed a four year deal with the Dodgers and is expected to step straight into the major leagues in 2014.

Obviously a team like the Houston Astros, the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets, etc. have the money and the position open to sign with Cano but I cannot see Cano chasing money over contending. This is his final contract he is likely to sign in his career and surely wants the opportunity to win a ring or three.

  1. This is great. One less thing to worry about.

    1. Agreed. Although Guerrero does have short stop experience.. and the Dodgers "need" a short stop too... but they arent that Greedy... are they?

    2. I don't know. I'd rather have Cano anyway. He has more experience and is a familiar part of the team.

  2. Not true...Texas, Detroit, and Washington are all interested. Let's hope the Yanks get him tho

    1. do those three teams really have the money to get involved at the bidding price Cano is wanting though is the point I was trying to make. I personally dont think so.

  3. Possible, but the Yankees have more money. Cano's return is not a done deal, but I see it as very likely to happen.

  4. Like most of you, I'm moving pieces of this puzzle around. Sometimes I overlook what is right in front of me.
Lets take a look at Mark Teixeira. Yes, he is with our squad, and hopefully mended...by spring training.
A mainstay, a plank if you will, of this team. Crippled by that meaningless World Baseball Classic.
In my opinion, all Yankees should be banned from participating in that event.

Look at what was missing from the 2013 campaign.....
    2011...39 HR, 111 RBI.
2012...24 HR, 84 RBI.....all that, and 130 less at bats.
2013...Lost, while participating in the WBC.
He will be back, and will put up fine numbers, along with superior glove work. Pencil him in.
Some say he should play 3rd, if Alex is suspended. He last played that position in 2003, for Texas.
Only 15 games, and a FPCT of .811......patrick, could give him a run for his money, with that .811!
I love the off season. A time to replant dreams, that blossom in the warming spring.
    Take care.

    1. yeah I understand where the whole Teix to 3B thing came from but someone is seriously smoking something if they think it should happen, and it will happen. No way teix plays 3B unless we are in like 14-0 game or a 14+ inning game.

  5. No one said...Hiroki Kuroda will not return to the Yankees. The teams best pitcher last year, until
he ran out of gas, or the pressure of making the wild card got to him. I think both.
A resigning of Kuroda, and, ( fingers crossed )...the signing of Masahiro Tanaka....between Sabathia,
and Nova is a reason for a sign of relief. There is plenty of talent for the fifth spot. And sixth!
    Long off season....think positive.

    1. Honestly I see Kuroda going back to Japan, just a hunch

  6. good comments from the Irish Candleman. We must stay positive with Jeter and Tex back and a resigned Cano along with Grandy pounding 40 again. This team can win.

  7. Daniel......when will we see the Irish Candleman writing a post for your site?

    1. He is all set up, signed up, and all that. Whenever the Candleman is ready the Candleman will post. I pressure no one into writing, whenever they feel comfortable and something good comes to them then they do it.

All eyes on the candleman ;)

  8. Dont worry we can replace Mo.......not with someone who will last as long or be as good as Mo over 15?seasons.....but for a season or two or three.

Hey look at the job Soriano did when he filled in for Mo in 2012.

On a lighter note, I have discovered where your gal pal, iTarsier, went. Complete with photo, and

    1. Well I am the farthest thing from a pusher Patrick so you just take your time. When you feel comfortable and ready it will happen, no need to rush perfection!

Is tarsier someone we would want commenting here?
