Balfour Expected To Sign Within The Next Week

Here is one for a couple of our guys who hang around in our comment section of the site, Mr. Patrick Walsh and Mr. Ken Hans, Grant Balfour is expecting to sign a contract "in the next week, if not in the coming days" according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Whether the Yankees are interested or not really remains to be seen but the Washington Nationals look like favorites right now for the Aussie. With the wrist and knee concerns surrounding Balfour I would be a little weary, plus I have all the confidence in the world in David Robertson, but I am excited for this discussion to be coming to an end.

  1. The bullpen has become just as important as the starting rotation these days. You see it every year when the playoffs are full of not only the best closers, but the deepest bullpens. I agree with you that I trust Robertson, but if you have the chance to add the arm like Balfour, especially if its a short term deal, you jump on it.

    1. Agreed. The best teams can mix and match and shut down games in the 6th and 7th innings. This is our next focus in my opinion and it starts with Balfour.

  2. He isn't signing with the Yankees now that Hal anointed Robertson the closer. BIG MISTAKE

    1. He has said he would be willing to pitch the 8th inning before so I don't see why not. Also he knows that if Robertson falters a couple times he will be thrown into the position... I think we get him.

    2. I hope you're right Daniel as I still believe that Robertson belongs with the Duck Dynasty Robertson's then closing out games. Just a little humor added sorry
