Mark Teixeira Leaves Game w/ Hamstring Injury
UPDATE: The official diagnosis is a strained right hamstring. No word on the severity, the amount of time missed, etc. With the Yankees on artificial turf the next two days I would say we will not see Teixeira for the remainder of the Blue Jays series. The Yankees have Russ Canzler playing first base in AAA, just in case you were wondering.
Mark Teixeira has left the game with the New York Yankees tonight in the second inning with an apparent right hamstring injury. Teix was visibly angry that he had to leave the field tonight with trainer Steve Donahue and manager Joe Girardi. More to come when details are released. At least it's not the wrist. Hopefully it is nothing serious and is a day to day issue or at worst a 15 day DL stint.

No first baseman on the 40 man. If Tex goes on the dl, We might have to use somebody like Murphy first.
ReplyDeleteThey still have Johnson, who showed in tonight's third inning that he's alright at the position
ReplyDeleteYeah. I actually thing he plays better at first then he does at third. I know Murphy has played third before. Not sure about first. If Tex goes to the dl, and Murphy can play first, it would be nice left/right platoon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a possible solution, but I still think an injured Teixeira should just be replaced by Johnson while Solarte plays third.
ReplyDeleteJohnson is our best option to replace Tex. I would just want a right handed option who can play first. What I would really want is for Tex to only miss a few games. But hamstrings can take awhile to heal properly.
ReplyDeleteKelly Johnson is going to be our first basemen. The question now is who will come up to be the 3rd basemen or bench player. Girardi may want to ride the Yangervis Solarte wave until he comes back down to Earth and I struggle to disagree with that.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the 40 man I say bring up John Ryan Murphy, who has experience at third base, as an emergency kind of guy. If we want to bring up someone not on the 40 man, Russ Canzler for example, then I would have no problem letting Ramon Flores go on a DFA.
