Can't Predict Baseball: No More Night Games In NY

On this day in 1942 New York City Police Commissioner Lewis J. Valentine announced that night games in New York are now banned for the duration of World War II. The All Star Game was set to be played in the Polo Grounds on Monday, July 6 of that year but the game time would be changed. This will also change the starting times for 28 games involving the Dodgers and the Giants.

The first night game played at Yankee Stadium was pushed back to 1946. Thanks Hitler.
