TGP Daily Poll: Eovaldi, Not Warren, to the Pen

I’m not saying I necessarily agree that this should happen but I believe as well as Adam Warren has pitched in the rotation and as bad as Nathan Eovaldi has been at times that it will be Eovaldi, not Warren, heading to the pen next week.

  1. As much as I don't like Straight Eovaldi and still think it was a terrible trade, I agree with Mulch Head Patty. He gives up way to many hits and the only relief role I can see him in is a long, mop up man. Power arm or not if you have no movement on your pitches a major league hitter will turn you around no matter how hard you throw. The elf, however won't allow Straight to be sent to the pen, it just shows he made a bad move and I don't think he wants to admit that as of now.

    1. I like to go against the grain sometimes on these things just for fun. I don't always necessarily think it's going to happen including this one. Warren is going to the pen.

  2. The offence has been carrying Eovo for most of this year, although he did pitch a very good game a game or two back.
Koufax (as I have said a time or two) had a blazing fastball, he was talked into taking a bit off the fastball and work on his Curve (I think) he did and he is in the HoF. If I or any other want-to-be pitcher had his fastball it would be hard to give up. But the only way he will ever amount to anything other than a so-so pitcher is to change. Put life into the fastball and get another pitch to go with it and his spliter, setting at 95-96 knowing you can pitch at that speed easily with movement makes things better for him and the team. I have been told, not everyone can make their fastball have movement. I couldn't throw a straight pitch, so it has always been hard for me to relate when teaching.
In the BP he could put more work into his pitches!

    1. He needs to add something, anything. Forkball, splitter, changeup, a decent slider... something. He's far too predictable right now.

    2. Not just right now, always. I was at game tonight and Warren pitched pretty well, definitely better than Eovaldi. I think its BS that Warren will have to go to the pen because at least he gives us length and a decent start more times than not, I can't say that about straight. Lastly I believe I am fair and I have said Didi sucks and I still think he can't hit even though he hit one out tonight, but his defense tonight was fantastic. If I'm going to rip someone for being bad I will compliment them when they're good.In closing Eovaldi to the pen as long man that's where he needs to go!

    3. THREE CHEER FOR MT GOOD FORTUNE TODAY !....
One, for Alex Rodriquez...came inside to grab a beer last night, and saw the home run.
Two, getting home this early on a Saturday. I feel like normal folks.
Three, I get to see 'The Great Straight Eovaldi' shut down the Tigers. Another gem !

  3. Eovo has a splitter but it is a come and go thing with him. The other night he had it working and it made a big differents in his game...two games ago? The only thing I can think of with him getting a breaking ball to work is his wrists must be very tight. Conversely, he should get some movement on his fastball by moving his grip a bit, it will not be at 99 or 100, but anything 95+ with movement is much better. He would still need a third pitch, a change-up is easy on the arm and easy to learn but, even that pitch takes some talent to put it where you want it...with the right brake to it.

    1. Thought it was interesting that he threw a lot less fastballs today and he dominated the Tigers. May have found something here.

    2. He did the same thing in the game he was going to win and the BP gave it up to the Marlins(?). I think he left the game with a 5 run lead and two on base in the 6th/7th and the BP couldn't hold for the win.

    3. He got bombed and didn't make it out of the first inning against the Marlins, must have been another team, What bothers me is he is at 100 pitches by the 5th or 6th inning usually. I know he's a fourth starter and shouldn't be expected to give 8 shutout innings on a nightly basis but still.
