There’s no such thing as a meaningless August series in 2015
because parity is in full form around Major League Baseball. That will be on
full display this evening as the New York Yankees welcome the revamped Toronto
Blue Jays to Yankee Stadium for a three game weekend series in the Bronx. The
Yankees will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound tonight to face off against their
second knuckleball pitcher in RA Dickey. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET
and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV.
The Yankees play host to Troy Tulowitzki all weekend long
and David Price at the stadium tomorrow so be sure to click the Yankees Tickets
link at the top of the blog to see these games live. If you can’t make it out
to Yankee Stadium then that’s no problem, simply jump on Twitter and follow
@GreedyStripes to root like hell for the home team.
TBA is ready to do work and deliver another series victory
for the Yankees and I’m ready to keep this high powered offense down so ESPN
will shut up about it for a night. Go Yankees!
Don't look now but six more innings and one run allowed by Eovaldi. Another fine outing if you ask me, especially for a fourth starter (depth chart wise).
ReplyDeleteI have to give Straight Eovaldi credit last night he pitched a very good game. Unlike others on here I will give credit when due and take it away when not warranted. Last night he was a pitcher
DeleteI have to agree with you Hans. Eovaldi looked pretty good. I don't like the taste of crow, but I'll eat it.
DeleteYa Levin crow sucks but eating it last night was warranted for me. I still think the guy is a five. But he pitched like a top of the rotation guy Friday night.
DeleteHad to gain a lot of confidence to pitch into the 7th, and would have finished the 7th had the defense not let him down twice, after that debacle of a first inning. Can't hurt anyway
DeleteTHE REVOLVER......now there is only smoke coming out of that barrel.
ReplyDeleteHe fired all his rounds...tonight six. Fine job tonight.
Yankees vs. knuckleballers, not something I enjoy watching. How many pop-ups tonight ?
This game has been frustrating. Three straight games, granted two against knuckle ballers, that the offense hasn't been stellar.
DeleteALEX & the Waiver Wires...no not a 60's rock group.
ReplyDeleteTry this one on for size :
Hypothetical: A-Rod gets claimed on trade waivers this month. Do the Yankees pull him back?
Sure it can happen. The Yanks bottom out, and it will happen. Knuckleballers do them in.
What say you ?
The Yankees have 40 million reasons to say no. ( I am a big fan of Alex )
Beltran, CC and I'll wait on A-Rod let's see what happens for a week or so with him. I think they should give him a day or so off, he plays every game...just about. Not playing for 1-1/2 years is one heck of a handicap to overcome at his age...heck, any age! There is being in shape and baseball shape, two completely different things...his legs are gone.
DeleteAlex has a full no-trade clause and is just now saving face... can't see him accepting a trade out of New York now.
DeleteEither can I see A-Rod going anywhere IF I left that impression let me correct it now. I was getting at his playing every game (about) and his legs getting wore out a bit. It is only as a DH but still, the mental and physical pressure of day after day takes a toll on one that hasn't been in real action for 1-1/2 years.
DeleteNow hear this...SOUND, GENERAL QUARTERS !!!..All men to their battle stations !
ReplyDeleteThe Yankee Ship of State...is, and has been hit.
The enemies have strengthened themselves, and the barbarians are now at the gates.
The precious 'Breathing Room', is now leaking from forward compartments.
This is not a drill !
That's why we play 162.
DeleteAnd that has to do with Hal and Cashman not making any moves and now you see what many of us who wanted moves made have complained about. Not enough top flight pitching on this roster and the team really needs another bat. The ship looks like it is sailing
ReplyDeleteQuestion to all that wanted Deals made before the deadline;
ReplyDelete1) Where would a very good hitter play and replace?
2) This upper management will not eat a contract so, who sits?
3) As for Pitching, why give up one of the top 4 or 5 prospects for a one-year rental or a long contract (see CC)?
4) Again, who would sit or return to AAA?
Bottom line; there was no one we could have picked up without giving up the future of the team. Eating one or two of the bad contracts would help but, ain't gonna happen.
1) the easiest answer is Martin Prado replacing Drew at second base. At least bring up Refsnyder and let him replace Drew, either way the offense benefits from it.
Delete2) the upper management DFA'd the Capuano contract that equals the Drew contract.
3) Pitching is harder to predict but unless Hamels, Cueto etc. were acquired I don't see it costing a top notch prospect.
Burch I have said it before and I will say it again. The Yankees have a tendency to overvalue their prospects. I would have been on Hammel because he had a few years left on his contract as you would've still had to basically given up the same haul for a Cueto. The Yankees never produce stud pitchers and the jury is still out on Servino as one start doesn't make you or break you. This team has a bunch of 3-5 pitchers and no real one or two's and the Tanaka of last year is not present as of now.
DeleteAndy, Mo, IPK, Betances, Nova, Joba, Hughes, Warren just to name a few good to very good pitchers that have come through the system. More may be coming along very soon!
DeleteI would have also been in on Hamels because of the team control remaining. Or price simply because he makes us a World Series team
