Cotts, Coke, Hensley & Left-Handed Yankees Pitchers

A few key notes from a few key left-handed Yankees pitchers today:

Neal Cotts has been signed to a minor league deal after opting out of his minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Cotts was assigned to Triple-A Scranton and will presumably be a LOOGY for Joe Girardi before long.

Phil Coke was designated for assignment and has cleared waivers. The Yankees have outrighted and assigned Coke to Scranton but I don't think that necessarily means 100% that he is staying with the organization.

Ty Hensley had a "setback" with his Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2016 season. No one has said a second Tommy John surgery is coming but it sounds like a second Tommy John surgery is coming.

    2. I know I'm right Daryl, you can be sarcastic all you want with your little shots across the bow. I can't help you if you don't have common sense in figuring it all out.

    3. Ken, you know we are always on the same page. You're just more extreme than me. When I first wrote that, I was referring to the cotts signing.

I just realized Daniel had wrote about Hensley on there too. A first round draft pick that knowingly had shoulder problems, drafted out of HS. Gonna play professionally for the long Island ducks.

Just to put icing on the cake, the Texas prospect everyone gets all hot and heavy over-gallo, slugging first baseman, was selected THIRTY NINTH, 9 spots later.

So I'm there with you 95% of the time. You just get more pissed than me. Not mocking!

  2. So here we go again with another lefty reliever which is why I pointed out to Levin that the trade of Wilson was stupid. What some of you fail to realize is that even though he might have been inconsistent at times, you at least knew you had major league talent. The two suspects are what if's and I would rather have a lefty that throws gas and did a decent job then what we have in that trade.

All you Elf fans and you can all say you're not but you really are should realize that he traded away Prado who could've played 3B and not cost us the money Headley did. We could have Phelps a swing man and we could've had Warren as a starter with Ref at 2B instead of Castro and Wilson instead of well you know that answer. Yes Castro has done a good job and Evo has been better but I would rather have those guys instead of Headley, Castro and the suspects.

  3. Right now we are setting well, not great! How in the world would have Phelps, Warren and Wilson have helped anymore than what we have. None of them would have been starters, so the three of them pitch in the BP...how would that have helped the team? Many of our starters on the Farm have gone down with arm problems so we could have used some back up but, there is no way Nova is going into the BP at the moment anyhow.

  4. The Wilson trade was bad but it's in the past. I'm here wondering where the hell Johnny Barbato, who pitched well without looking at the stats but he did pitch well every time I saw him, is. 10 days is up and the middle relief looks thin.. and yet he's still in AAA.

  5. I was wondering myself but so many move in the last few days I forgot about him. Joe seems to think arms grow on trees because he very seldom uses anyone other than the top 4 or 5 pitchers out of the BP. The way our starters, except for Evo and Tank, go only 5 innings 4 or 5 guys are not enough. Using the same three guys damn near every night is going to come home and bite him in the ass in a few weeks. Look at Dellin, he is not the same anymore, the guy needs a couple of days off in a row or more if possible.

    1. He is managing for his job. It's blatantly obvious no matter what Hal and Cashman say to the media.

He has said he wouldn't use all three of them in back to back days thus saving one for the save opportunity on the third day. He hasn't stuck to that.

He has also said he wouldn't use anyone three days in a row. Wait until about July or August and watch that one go out the window too.

    2. I like joe but, you may be right on that....I can only hope not. Even if they are not injuried by the playoffs (If we were to make it) their arms will be hanging.
