The New York Yankees for whatever reason have been reluctant
to call up Nick Swisher after signing the former member of the 2009 World
Series championship team to a minor league deal. The Yankees have lost Alex
Rodriguez for at least another week due to a hamstring injury and both Brett
Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury have been day-to-day with nagging injuries but the
team has decided to go with Ben Gamel and Aaron Hicks over Swisher for whatever
reason.
Swisher is out of minor league options and is not on the 40
man roster which always complicates the matter but seemingly the Yankees know
more than I do. Maybe Swisher doesn’t want to accept another minor league
assignment if he gets designated for assignment or maybe his knees being gone
are not getting the true attention that they deserve. I trust the Yankees
organization, even after everything I’ve seen during my 20+ years of fandom,
and if they aren’t calling up Swisher I guess there’s a pretty good reason for
it.
I hope there is anyway because it seems like the hot streak
is coming to an end, and truthfully it had to at some point, and I had hoped
the Yankees would have rode that out in the Bronx and not Scranton.

How about he just sucks
ReplyDeleteI've read that it's "painful" to watch him run. That he's a question mark to even play at first. When you're done, you're done. Which means he'll probably be the next one called up by Cashman.
ReplyDeleteGood one Levin and probably true
DeleteI've also read that Levin. You're mobility isn't much of a concern at first base though is it? I mean we've watched Miguel Cabrera play the position, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Jason Giambi and a slew of other examples. None of them played it well but their bats carried them for the most part.
