While the MLB playoffs are in full swing the New York
Yankees are home for what should be a very, very long winter. The team came out
of the gates sluggish and began 2016 on a 9-17 stretch that ultimately doomed
them later on in the season. Next year the team will look to come out strong
with their new faces and young players with their eyes on the ultimate prize,
the postseason. A lot can and likely will happen for this club between now and
Opening Day 2017 but as it stands right now here are your 2017 New York
Yankees. The only constant is change so expect that.
The Infield:
Gary Sanchez – C
Greg Bird – 1B
Starlin Castro – 2B
Didi Gregorius – SS
Chase Headley – 3B
Brian McCann – DH
The Outfield:

Aaron Judge – RF
The Bench:

The Bullpen:

Nick Goody / Richard Bleier / Other I'm blatantly forgetting
Whoever isn’t the 5th starter
Thoughts? Obvious holes? Areas that need improvement? And…..
go in the comments section!
IF THE 2017 SEASON BEGAN TODAY.....With that line-up ?
ReplyDeleteI would jump off the Throgs Neck Bridge.
That lineup did pretty well down the stretch. It's not ideal by any means but still. There is a long way to go between Opening Day 2017 and now thankfully.
DeleteJust because I want to upset everyone!
ReplyDeleteThe Bullpen:
Andrew Miller
Dellin Betances
Domingo Acevedo
Tyler Clippard
Adam Warren
Cale Coshow
James Kaprielian
Tommy Layne
Jonathan Holder
Nick Goody / Richard Bleier / Other I'm blatantly forgetting
Whoever isn’t the 5th starter.
Domingo stays healthy and he could be in Triple-A by the end of the season. A lot has to go wrong for him to jump from Charleston to the Bronx in 2017. Even if it is in the bullpen.
DeleteKaprielian I could see. Coshow, sure I'll give you that one since you like him so much :)
"Ace" has to have many things go right for him this coming year to make the jump. He has the tools just needs the C&C to be a starter or BP. He throws strikes, just not where the ball should be most of the time. If he comes up it would be as another BP arm.
DeleteTwo guys we all forgot as starters is Jordan Montgomery and Chance Adams!
Coshow, has what he needs to be a starter except he would be better as a 8th inning or closer type. he is a lot like a right handed Andy Miller! He has trouble going deep into games because he is so heavy...right now anyhow.
Ken....Great list of bullpen components.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you add Rick Flair ?
That lineup sucks and would produce a 5th place finish
ReplyDeleteThat can be said of any line-up we put out there don't you think Ken H?
DeleteAnyone have a better pitching lineup...using the people we already have?
