Meet A Prospect : Nick Goody

The New York Yankees used their 6th round pick, 217th overall, on college right handed pitcher Nick Goody. Nick spent his collegiate career as a closer at Louisiana State University, or more commonly known as LSU. Nick signed a below slot deal for $140K.

Nick Goody's stuff has always been described as electric, especially as he was leading the LSU Tigers in the NCAA Regionals this season. He spots his fastball and slider pretty well and his fastball is already considered major league ready in ever facet of the game. He could become a major league closer with the stuff he possesses and looks like a fast mover. It would not shock me to see him within the next two or three seasons, and when I say we could see him I mean we could see him for good. If you remember seeing Goody's name then you have a good memory because the Yankees actually drafted Nick last season before he turned them down to close for the LSU Tigers.

Nick Goody is already pitching for Class A Yankees Affiliate the Charleston Riverdogs. After 3 appearances in the NYPL for Staten Island and a 0.00 ERA , 1 H, 1 BB, 1 save and 5 K's he was promoted to Charleston totally skipping the GCL. In 5 games in Charleston he still has an anemic 1.00 ERA at the time of this writing with 2 saves , 4 BB's, 13 K's in 9 IP, and a .167 BAA. Can you say fast mover in the Yankees system?
