In an interview with Meredith Marakovits Yankees general manager Brian Cashman announced that injured starting pitcher Phil Hughes plans to throw off of flat ground for the first time tomorrow since finding a bulging disc in his back. Hughes hurt his back covering first base during routine pitchers fielding practice drills and spent a week on anti inflammatory medications followed by a weeks worth of pool exercises and treadmill work. Hughes says he has felt no pain in his back since the injury so hopefully he gets the green light by the teams doctors soon to get into a game and hopefully tomorrow's throwing session goes well.
