The Yankees, unsurprisingly, have received zero offers for their starting pitcher Phil Hughes. With Hughes' home and road splits to go with the fact that he is a fly ball/home friendly pitcher you can understand why the Yankees have not received any offers. The Yanks are said to be aggressively shopping Hughes for a bat but so far it seems like a no go.
If they can't trade him, they should send him down to Scranton and call up Pineda. Pineda's been solid so far and it would give Hughes some time to recover.
ReplyDeleteHughes is out of options and cannot be sent down without accepting a minor league assignment. Unless he is "injured" of course.
ReplyDeleteCould they just cut him?
ReplyDeleteThey could but he is worth more to us to just cut him
