Saxon Butler Clears Bases in 8-2 Trenton Thunder Win

TRENTON, NJ – Saxon Butler’s bases-clearing double turned a 3-1 Thunder lead into a 6-1 lead with two outs in the 5th inning en route to Trenton’s 8-2 win Tuesday night over the Harrisburg Senators.

Butler notched four RBI in the game, thanks to a fielder’s choice groundout, and has factored mightily into helping the Thunder win the first few home games of his Trenton career.

Ramon Flores finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, with two RBI and a run scored. The two hits extend his hitting streak to a season-best 13 games over which he is 20-for-57 (.351 BA).

Jeremy Bleich collected his second win of the season- and first as a starting pitcher- with five innings of five-hit ball. Bleich made his fourth start of the season and tossed a season high 80 pitches over those five innings. He did allow a run in the 2nd inning to allow Harrisburg to jump out to a 1-0 lead, but the run was unearned. His record now stands at 2-1 on the season with an ERA that has dropped.

With the win, Trenton has won five games in-a-row and moves seven games above .500 for just the second time all season, and for the first time since they were 31-24 on May 31st. The win is also the seventh consecutive win at home for the Thunder dating to August 2nd

The Thunder return to the field for Game 2 of a three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators beginning Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Mikey O’Brien (6-6, 3.90) pitches for the Thunder against RHP Nathan Karns (7-5, 3.27).
