David Phelps is back with the Yankees FINALLY after rehabbing a couple bouts of right forearm stiffness. Phelps has not pitched since July 4th and seemed like a Tommy John surgery candidate before this news broke. Phelps looks to improve on his 5.01 ERA and 3.84 FIP before the season ends. Phelps looks to be a huge part of the 2014 season so this is a great opportunity to audition once again and build some confidence before the season ends.
Derek Jeter has been added to the 60 day DL to make room for Phelps who was transferred off the 60 day DL and called up.
Phelps may need Tommy John surgery yet. Maybe next year or soon thereafter, history says a pitcher with constant arm trouble is one step away from surgery...not everyone but, most. Hopefully he will be an exception, he is sorely needed for next year and many more!
ReplyDeleteI just dont understand why we would throw him out there. Why not just get the surgery and start recovery ASAP
