Yankees Sign Carlos Beltran

It didn't take long for the Yankees to react to losing Robinson Cano.

"I want three years!"

The team has come to an agreement of three years and $45 million for Carlos Beltran. Not long ago he seemed to be out of the picture as the Yankees weren't willing to meet his demand of a three-year contract, but here we are now.

I would have rather seen the team take a chance on Corey Hart, as he's pretty much the same type of player when he's healthy. But I guess the team would rather spend more.

  1. Bryan...
There is our right handed bat and hope we can live with his being 37 before he starts a game for us.
We now have Sory and Beltran from the right side.

    1. I can live with him as long as his knees don't give out. In fact, that's my only real concern when it comes to Beltran.

    2. Switch hitting really balances out the lineup.

    1. The way things are going, the team will be set in two weeks.

    2. And we're not even to the Winter Meetings yet in an era of baseball where huge stars, Prince Fielder for example, go to January or even February, Michael Bourn, before signing.

How you fix the loss of production from Cano, since there is no comparable 2B, is you bulk up elsewhere. Infante will be an overpaid Yankee in a week, book it.

  3. FOCUS IN....please.

Carlos Beltran, is a switch hitter. He is healthy. And, he is a ...natural hitter. I like Corey Hart, but he
is not ready to play in the outfield. Beltran can. And, will be our new Raul Ibanez. Nice signing !!

That said, along with the Kelly, McCann, and Ellsbury moves....the Yankees have chips on the table.
Along with money saved from the Cano loss.......25 million a year, to reinvest.
Perfect timing, the Winter Meetings ready to rock on Monday. And, the Yanks will be players.

CHIPS ? Gardner...Nunez...pick any catcher, inc. Sanchez, Warren, Heathcott ( why not ? )...etc.
This is developing into the best off season in years, for the Yankees.
Every signing has been superb, some have questions re: money, but all have improved the squad.

The Cano thing is a blessing. But he should of been traded in July.
Enjoy the upcoming week. It's not over. Stay strong.

    1. Blogger screws up on the comment sections sometimes. I have posted quite a few, and they are usually books, that just never post for some reason. Especially when I use my phone or a "mobile" device, ie an iPad.

Its nothing we are doing I assure you, I enjoy your comments, its the evil google trying to keep the Yankees down. I guess Bud Selig bought google.
