Quick Hit: Mark Teixeira As The Cleanup Hitter
Just when you thought Joe Girardi's binder couldn't get any more off base and ridiculous we hear speculation of Mark Teixeira being the Yankees cleanup hitter this coming season. Obviously Girardi did not deny or confirm these reports but you can tell the difference between him dodging a question and denying a question and this was a definite dodge.
Putting Teixeira in the middle of the Yankees lineup makes absolutely no sense, none. First of a switch hitting Carlos Beltran is hitting third and left handed hitting Brian McCann is somewhere in the middle of the order as well, don't you want to split them up a bit? Also, that leaves Alfonso Soriano to hit way lower in the order than he should be. Hell in my opinion Soriano should be cleaning up preceded by Beltran, followed by McCann, and then inserting Teix into the lineup.
Just my two pennies, what are yours?
1. Ellsbury
ReplyDelete2. Jeter
3. Beltran
4. Soriano
5. McCann
6. Rodriguez...err...Teixeira
7. Roberts
8. Johnson
9. Gardner
1. Ellsbury
ReplyDelete2. Jeter
3. Beltran
4. Soriano
5. McCann
6. Johnson
7. Teixeira
8. Gardner
9. Roberts
Teix 7th? Boy you crazy lol
ReplyDeleteThat'll obviously never happen, but that is what I want. Teixeira is not a good hitter and only deserves to be on the team for his defense
DeleteTeix is not a good hitter? Just because he doesn't bat in the .300's anymore doesn't mean he isn't a good hitter anymore. Only thing is he shouldn't be a cleanup or third place hitter anymore, especially with his slow starts.
DeleteAs we know Jeter is hitting in a bad slump I moved him down until he gets his swing going.
ReplyDelete1. Ellsbury
2. Nunez
3. Beltran
4. Soriano
5. Tex
6. McCann
7. Jeter
8. Roberts
9. Gardner
Have no fear fans it is only for a while. Check Ego's at the door fans, Winning is still the name of the game.
So you have Nunez starting over Kelly Johnson? Especially on Opening Day when we have a right handed pitcher on the mound for the Astros?
DeleteLet's say I agree with moving Jeter down, which I don't, this is how the lineup has to look:
Ellsbury
Soriano
Beltran
McCann
Teix
Jeter
Johnson
Roberts
Gardner
Daniel...
DeleteSorry, I didn't see who we were facing, right or left.
I can live with your line-up! I had not thought of Soriano as a #2 type hitter but, maybe he would even get better pitches.
I must admit, I would like to see what Gardner, Ells and then Nunez back to back to back, can do? I still go with the adage; "Speed Kills"! With the help of speed and the RBI guys it sure would be nice to see.
The talking toupee has Jeter batting seventh???
DeleteJeter hating continues.
