Jacoby Ellsbury & Michael Pineda Are Injured, Great
Before we get down to business all I can think about is the movie Friday with Chris Tucker and Ice Cube and the comment that Tucker's character makes about how dumb you have to be to get fired on your day off. Michael Pineda is currently serving a suspension for the use of an illegal substance, pine tar specifically, and is in jeopardy of being added to the disabled list... what? Jacoby Ellsbury is also nursing a nagging injury that the Yankees are surely going to overreact with.
Ellsbury is out of the lineup tonight with a sore hand that has been bothering him for a few days now. Tests were done on the hand and everything came back clean and negative which is encouraging but the Yankees are sitting Ellsbury tonight. Pineda was throwing a simulated game down in Tampa and pulled himself after just one inning with a tight lat muscle. Pineda will go for an MRI on the lat and his next start next Monday is now obviously in jeopardy.
My question is, and I have not found this so maybe one of the readers can help me here, can we back date a DL trip while the player is suspended? I doubt it but I don't know that for sure.
