Kelley: “[Cash] said he hated to see me go, but they have some things they’re doing, things they’re working on, and it was part of new plan”

I thought this quote from Shawn Kelley, courtesy of Dan Barbarisi's Twitter account, was pretty interesting and worth a share. What about you? Sounds like Kelley knows what's going on and isn't talking and it more importantly sounds like there is actually a plan here, which is encouraging. What say you?
You know as well as I do, they are starting to get the idea...I have no proof of this but, I know Cashman has always wanted to do as he was asked to do by "Stick" and Watson when they put his name in to take their place as GM. Build the Farm System and use more of what we have.
ReplyDeleteWhen needed, sign a big time game changer but not to long contracts!
I know he was against the signing of A-Rod, Tex and CC because of the years of contracts not the money. Now we can see it with the contracts some of the pitchers want and we are not going for it anymore...I hope!
I think, and hope, you're right Reed. I hope the team is finally going to catch up to the rest of the league. If they do we may see a slight change in the rising salaries in the game.
Delete"Daniel, we have a problem here" !
DeleteDo you remember the time the Players Union filed suit against the owners because of "Contract Fixing and Collusion"! This did happen, the exact reasoning for it was something to do with a few teams refusing to sign a, or more players because the owners didn't want what they have today...runaway $$$$ and years of contracts.
It could come up again if other teams say "NO More, No More"!
It didn't come up with Barry Bonds though and it was so obvious... It was Jose Canseco most recently though, no?
DeleteScherzer would guarantee them a playoff spot. WAR stats prove it
ReplyDeleteThat is a very debatable question, don't you think? I can't think of any ONE player I have ever seen that would do that!
DeleteI understand, with him, we would have a much better chance of making it happen, no doubt about that!
If you're using 2014 numbers and not considering improvements from a ton of teams in the AL, then sure he GUARANTEES a spot. Unless you're using a MLB The Show sim....
DeleteIf those two are not the reason behind your comment then there is no way we can even guarantee he made a start for us in seven years.... let alone lead us to the playoffs guaranteed.
