Former New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and
Toronto Blue Jays player Roger Clemens finally has some closure in his
defamation lawsuit against him from his former trainer Brian McNamee. Attorneys
have finally settled the lawsuit after McNamee appeared before a U.S.
magistrate judge in Brooklyn, New York. In case you were wondering Clemens did
not attend and the final numbers of the settlement amount were not disclosed at
the time of this writing. For what it’s worth though Clemens’ attorney Chip
Babcock says the former Cy Young Award winner will not contribute any money to
the settlement personally and instead AIG insurance will pay the settlement
off.
McNamee sued Clemens for defamation of character way back in
2008 after Clemens said that McNamee lied and created evidence in the case
where Clemens was accused of using steroids and performance enhancing drugs.
We’ll never know for sure whether Clemens really used steroids or not or
whether McNamee was really lying or not but the case is finally closed and the
matter is finally over and there is something to be said about that kind of
closure in life.
