UPDATE: With the 30th pick the New York Yankees took shortstop Kyle Holder from the University of San Diego.
The New York Yankees sat patiently and watched as 15 players were drafted that the team would have undoubtedly loved to add to their farm system. With the #16 pick the Yankees selected James Kaprielian. Kaprielian is a RHP from UCLA. I have seen everything from Kaprielian being a relief pitcher to a #2 or #3 pitcher in the major leagues as soon as the 2016 season a la Ian Kennedy.
I Like it. We need more arms!
ReplyDeleteSTILL GATHERING FACTS....on this #1 pick, J. Kaprielian.
ReplyDeleteMy numbers may be a touch off....blame it on the Coors.
Kaprielian, pitched to an ERA of 2.10 last season. And, he has led his teams division
in strike outs....the past two seasons.
They say the Yankees had been linked to Kaprielian, prior to tonight's pick.
I have seen him ranked as high as a #2 starter and as low as a workhorse #5
Delete# 30 PICK....LHP, Brady Aiken.
ReplyDeleteA roll of the dice, on what can be a high end steal for the Yankees.
Yes, he had Tommy John in the spring, but who hasn't.
Did not think he would drop to the Yankees. Great pick !
SORRY....bad fact gathering on my part.
ReplyDeleteThe # 30 pick is the SS Holder......Sure would have taken Aiken, over holder.
Don't like the Holder pick at all especially when we need arms, but hey you have a minor league hitting coach running the draft along with a clown that wears and elf outfit so what do you expect
DeleteI didn't like the Holder pick either. He was taken #30 when most "experts" had him ranked in the mid to high 50's, conveniently where New York had a pick at #57. Defense only shortstop who has finally decided to play baseball full-time.
DeleteHis bat is raw and you don't want raw out of a college player, especially at #30. Terrible pick even if it works out long term because he would have been there at #57.
Exactly as we have guys on the farm already like that in Culver and guys on roster like Didi and Drew and Ryan that can't hit. The elf strikes again!
DeleteWe already have Castillo, Tyler Wade, Avelino and the best of them all Mateo...playing SS and can hit and pic'um. Mateo, if all goes well, will be the SS for a long time...my opinion only, he has all the tools one needs at SS.
DeleteBut, let us not dismiss Didi so quickly, he is slowly getting his stuff together and will not end up being a big disappointment!
Mateo has not bat, the best bat of those four without looking up stats belongs to Wade... Mateo has a long way to go though and is expected to add some pop and life to his bat.
DeleteMateo has had a few little injuries this year but is healthy again he is a better hitter than his Avg. shows...the glove and arm are very good and some pop (per Brett) is likely.
DeleteCastillo is the leader of this pack with the bat and a good glove not the quickest guy at SS.
Ryan is 32/33 but that guy can play SS with anyone.
Ells must be about ready to show up, which means Pirela is going to the Farm! If Ells is a few days away they can plug him in RF if needed.
Aiken went 17 to Cleveland, one pick after we took Kaprielian
ReplyDeleteHANSEL HANS....'Red Mulch / Negative Mulch'....The elf has heard you.
ReplyDeleteYou want pitching ? Now you got it !
Sergio Santos, is on the way.
Santos was designated by the Dodgers and ultimately elected free agency. He put up 13 1/3 innings for Los Angeles, producing a 4.73 ERA while striking out 10.1 and walking 4.7 batters per nine to go with a 46.2% groundball rate. Santos has held righties to a collective .555 OPS this year, though lefties have punished him with a .400/.409/.700 batting line.
Rothschild can't wait to get his hands on this pitching hipster.
Shake your money maker.....Connecticut Elf.
For what it's worth Santos is going to Double-A... not even Triple-A. I think he is just a depth signing. I'll allow it.
