Aaron Judge is a hell of a teammate, isn’t he? Now I have never seen him interact with his teammates down in Scranton but I do follow the man on Twitter. The Judge tweeted out on Saturday a congratulations to former teammate Greg Bird for his first Major League hit just minutes after it occurred. He didn’t see it later on Sportscenter or get told it by teammates or coaches and do the politically correct thing, Judge was watching as his teammate laced a single against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. That, my friends, is Yankees baseball in a nut shell.
While the whole good teammate thing is nice, ask the
Cleveland Indians about Nick Swisher, it doesn’t go nearly as far if you’re not
producing and you’re not winning. Judge is doing both and doing both in a big
way, which is evident by this stat line below. Judge is not on the 40 man
roster so a call up to the Major Leagues as a September call up is unlikely but
his bat is really intriguing when I think about it sitting in the middle of the
Yankees lineup in between Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann.
