The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays face off for the
second time this afternoon as a part of their three game set this weekend in
the Bronx. The Rays are struggling to keep their playoff hopes alive while the
Yankees are in the driver’s seat in the American League Wild Card chase. The
Yankees want that division crown though and would like to skip a one game
playoff if at all possible so every game is being played and managed like a
must win in the Bronx right now which is not a great sign for the Rays. New
York will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound looking for his 15th win
of the season while the Rays counter with Matt Moore. The game will be played
at 1:05 pm ET and can be seen on Fox Sports One and MLB TV.
The Toronto Blue Jays are coming to town and so are the
Baltimore Orioles after tomorrow afternoon’s finale in this series so be sure
to click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog to see any of these
uber-important games left this season. Also be sure to give @GreedyStripes a

your favorite Yankees on their march towards the playoffs.
Eovaldi hasn’t taken a loss since the middle of June and the
Yankees don’t tend to lose with him on the mound so this has all the makings of
being a very interesting contest for New York and their fans. Go Yankees!
YES Eovaldi has not pitched deep into games consistently but, unless you don't watch the games, you can no longer say that Eovaldi does not get strikeouts and you cannot say his fastball is flat and without movement.
ReplyDeleteEovaldi has added a 2-seam fastball that he is using as a front door pitch and his four seam fastball seems to have a bit of a rising action late now. Eovaldi is third on the team in strikeouts which says a lot since he's not going deep enough into games.
Evo is a work in progress and may never develop into an ace but he damn sure isn't going to do it over night either. He's made leaps and bounds in his progression though and if you watch the games no one can deny that. No he wouldn't have 14 wins with less run support but he has the 30th best FIP, all the things that the pitcher alone can control, in Major League Baseball and that cannot be ignored.
and right on cue he's allowed three runs on 97 pitches in 5 IP... lol
ReplyDeleteAgain high pitch count and can't get out of the 6th inning and I do disagree with you about his fastball with movement. It's still straight. He is getting more K's and Crack head Patty boy will say this guys is the best pitcher since Cy Young just ask Nolan Ryan
ReplyDeleteYou must not be watching the games because his fastball is far from straight anymore.
DeleteHANS-GENDER............Crack head Patty boy ? Perhaps.
DeleteI'll ask Nolan Ryan right now. The magic of the internet.
Nolan, whats your take on Eovaldi ?
......" He got the stuff. My wife thinks he's a performer in the bunk house.
That cowboy has it all."
It seems like the Straight Eovalei has been in your bunk house.
DeleteI watch every game trust me. Apparently we have two different definitions of straight. Might you be confusing his alleged split finger pitch as a fastball because he is straight like an arrow unlike his biggest fan lol
ReplyDeleteHe's not throwing 98 MPH+ splitters, they are definitely four seamers.
DeleteSorry Burch Beer this is where we disagree. He is more straight than Little P
