The New York Yankees are about to kick off the biggest and
most important series of the season, until the next series of course, with the
Baltimore Orioles tonight inside Oriole Park and Camden Yards. This series is
important for a lot of reasons but the main reason is that this is one of the
many teams the Yankees are chasing in both the AL East Division race but one of
the teams they are chasing in the 2nd Wild Card race in the American
League as well. I spoke on this earlier in the week but we’re getting to the
point where simply winning series may not be mathematically feasible and the
Yankees may need to start sweeping these head-to-head series if they want to
make the postseason. That starts tonight as the Yankees send Chad Green to the
mound to lead the charge against Dylan Bundy for the Orioles.
Green will face off with the Orioles again after notching a
no-decision against this team in his last start in the Bronx. Green gave up
three home runs in the start including two to Chris Davis while holding the
Orioles to four runs and seven hits in an eventual Yankees victory. Thank
goodness for offense.
Bundy also faced the Yankees in his last start and took a
loss in the start after allowing five runs on seven hits including one home
run. Walks hurt Bundy in the start as he allowed three free base runners to
reach for the Yankees which resulted in the right-hander lasting just four
innings in the loss.
The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park and
Camden yards and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. The biggest game of
the Yankees 2016 season happens tonight and it happens against one of the
team’s biggest and most bitter rivals. The biggest game of the season, until
tomorrow of course. Go Yankees!
