Save the date. On Monday January 18, 2022, hours into an MLB Network broadcast (by this time long enough to rival the Super Bowl Pre-Game Show), BBWAA Secretary Treasurer Jack O'Connell will step to the microphone and announce that Alex Rodriguez has been voted into the Hall of Fame.
That's right. A-Rod makes it to Cooperstown on the first ballot, and will be enshrined in a ceremony on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
The iconic numbers will be cited. The 3115 hits (20th all-time), the 696 home runs (fourth), the 2086 RBIs (third), along with the .295/.380/.550/.930 lifetime line. The three Most Valuable Player Awards, the 10 Silver Sluggers, the 14 All-Star Games, and the 2009 World Series championship.
But that's not why.
I loved Arod but your on glue. He will never be a hall of famer. Based on performance and not performance enhancing drugs I think Bonds, Big Mac, Roger, and Arod should be. With or without they were amazing... simple fact if they won't be due to cheating.
ReplyDeleteThis is not my article. I am not on anything, hahaha.

ReplyDeleteI wrote a comment but it didn't get posted because I Fu------ up, so, I'll try again!
ReplyDeleteA-Rod is (by numbers alone) one of the best (position) players to ever play MLB, with or without his use of drugs. Only Hammering Hank Aaron has a better number sheet then he and that is in the books! A-Rod gets my vote as being a bit better only because he played SS for half of his career.
Don't get me wrong, one can (and will) say his HR numbers were big in Texas, but the fact is, most power guys hit more HR in Texas because that is an HR hitters park and remember he was in the prime of his career!
I still resent his drug use, and will never forgive him for misusing his God given talents, but he has always been one of the hardest working and most fundamentally sound players I have ever seen play.
