A Yankees Day in the Life: Greg Bird

Greg Bird is rehabbing and could be back with the New York Yankees soon after starting the 2018 season on the disabled list with an ankle injury. What better time than now to take a look and walk a mile in the shoes of the “Birdman of New York” and witness a Yankees day in the life with Mr. Greg Bird. Enjoy!!

A Yankees Day in the Life: Sonny Gray

Want to know what it would be like to walk a mile in tonight’s starter Sonny Gray’s shoes? Well, truth be told you will probably never get that opportunity, but you can come pretty close right now by watching the latest “A Day in the Yankees Life” story showcasing the young right-hander, Sonny Gray. Enjoy!

ORIGINS: Chance Adams

Many have given up on the idea of this one particular prospect becoming a top-end starter at the Major League level for the New York Yankees, but I haven’t. I am talking about Chance Adams, the right-handed pitcher that was drafted as a reliever only to be converted as a starter early on in his minor league career. Adams and the Yankees started a trend by taking the best available arm, regardless of position, and grooming them as starters, so it feels only right to watch the origin story for the man that may or may not have started it all for New York.

ORIGINS story, Chance Adams. Enjoy.

A Yankees Day in the Life: Bernie Williams

One last time for the crowd, one last Yankees Day in the Life showcasing a dynasty Yankees member. One last time for the one that never got enough credit for his contributions throughout his career. One last time, Mr. Bernie Williams.

A Yankees Day in the Life: Scott Brosius

Yes, I am still feeling nostalgic. Yes, I wondered what in the world the Yankees were doing when they acquired Scott Brosius to man third base for them during the dynasty year. Yes, I was wrong. No introduction needed, a Yankees Day in the Life: Scott Brosius Edition.

A Yankees Day in the Life: Tino Martinez

Good morning Yankees family. I woke up this morning feeling a little nostalgic this morning for whatever reason so I wanted to do things a little bit differently today, just because. I have been watching a lot of old games lately (well, clips from old games and not the entire game admittedly) as well as going through the TGP archives... I may or may not be looking to draw inspirations and ideas for a future, much larger, post here on the blog. Stay tuned for that, but until then let us take a look at what it is like to walk in the shoes of the man who, much like Didi Gregorius, replaced a Yankees legend. Like Didi replaced Derek Jeter, Tino Martinez replaced some guy named Don Mattingly back in 1996.

I have to admit Tino became my favorite Yankee immediately and stayed in the top spot for his entire tenure in the Bronx, so I am just as excited as you are to watch this documentary and video. Enjoy!!

A Yankees Day in the Life: Didi Gregorius

Yeah, I hinted at a new, unique and different series here on the blog a few hours ago… and yeah, I delivered like I tend to do. Ever wonder what it is like to be Didi Gregorius for a day? Well here you go, a Yankees day in the life of the New York starting shortstop and the man that replaced the legendary Derek Jeter. Sir Didi Gregorius.

ORIGINS: Sonny Gray

Sonny Gray was this afternoon’s starter for the Yankees in the Bronx against the Baltimore Orioles and while his day is done on the field it doesn’t mean we are done talking about him off of the field. We have been running this ORIGINS series here on the blog where we learn and watch where certain players came from and today we showcase this afternoon’s starter, Sonny Gray. Enjoy and let me know how you’re liking these series. I like to run things that you don’t see on every other blog and I like things to be different around here, so I hope it shows in a positive way. Have a great night, and check back in a few hours… I may or may not have another one of these “different” series that I will begin later on tonight and into the weekend.

WATCH: Documentary 56: The Streak

It seems like the older I get the less “fun” I like to have. Sure I still love to have fun but I think my idea of sun has changed since turning 30 and having children. No longer do I want to drink and stay up all night being rowdy and such since now my idea of fun is taking my son to a baseball game or popping some popcorn and watching a movie with my family. I said all that to say this, and no I’m not just rambling believe it or not, I know what I will be doing on Sunday, May 15th. It will be fun, at least in my opinion, because it’s Yankees related. I’ll be sitting on my couch watching a documentary surround Joe DiMaggio and his 56 game hitting streak.

This Sunday at 8:00 pm ET on MLB Network Ed Burns will narrate the latest documentary to be showcased on “MLB Network Presents” when he narrates “56: The Streak.” This day is important because it marks the 75th anniversary of the day that DiMaggio began the streak and record that may never be broken.

I’ll be watching and I thought many of my fellow Yankees fans would like to watch as well so I thought I’d pass along the news. Enjoy!

Opposite Field: A Baseball in Uganda Documentary

Opposite Field is a documentary that touches on the sport of baseball in the third world country of Uganda. For the first time in 70 years of the Little League World Series a team from Africa made the cut, the magical team from Uganda. Their true, and sometimes gritty, and inspirational tale is told in this documentary. I covered this documentary when it was just a viral documentary on the internet and with the hard work of the producers and everyone who had their hands on the documentary the piece is making its way to television.

What: Opposite Field: A Baseball in Uganda Documentary

When: December 5, 2015

Where: Fuse TV

Internet Link/Clip: https://vimeo.com/145300697

Tune In Alert:
On Saturday, December 5 at 9/8c, Fuse will present the television premiere of OPPOSITE FIELD, the true story of a Ugandan baseball team that made history by becoming the first African team to qualify for the Little League World Series.

In 70 years, the Little League World Series has never hosted an African team. One team from Uganda is determined to make history and stand proudly for their country on the international stage. Opposite Field follows the coach and players of this inspirational team as they take on some of the best, and best-funded players in the world as well as international bureaucracy in this incredible rollercoaster of a story. The documentary was filmed over the course of three years and chronicles the ups and downs of the coach and players’ journeys and also features MLB players Jimmy Rollins & Derrek Lee (retired), who spend time guiding and rooting the team on as they strive to make their legacy playing America’s pastime.

OPPOSITE FIELD is directed, written and narrated by Jay Shapiro and co-produced with John Gentile (Sky Dancers), Nick Goldfarb (Requiem for a Dream) and Krista Saponara (The Street Stops Here). Director of Photography is Jason Krangel and the film is composed by Aleks de Carvalho (Body Snatchers).
