Mike Axisa from River Ave Blues Top 30 Yankees Prospects

Mike Axisa not too awful long ago was in the same position that I am in, he was an aspiring writer and blogger that had a big dream and an even bigger work ethic. So many years later he runs the very successful River Avenue Blues Yankees blog, he works for CBS Sports as a writer, he's a member of the Baseball Writers Association of America and he's still a cool dude so when he talks I still listen. I have been showcasing my person Top 30 Prospects list here on the blog daily but this afternoon I wanted to bring you his list, well a partial look at it anyway. How about Axisa's Top 10?

1. Aaron Judge
2. Gary Sanchez
3. Jorge Mateo
4. James Kaprielian
5. Ian Clarkin
6. Robert Refsnyder
7. Bryan Mitchell
8. Wilkerman Garcia
9. Dustin Fowler
10. Luis Torrens

For the entire list and for all the write-ups, trust me it's worth the click and the read, CLICK HERE.

Brian Cashman Gives Yankees Injuries Updates

Brian Cashman was passing out Yankees injury updates in early December, the fans and beat writers of the New York Yankees are ruthless aren't they? On a serious note though I am excited to hear about and bring these injury updates for key Yankees Mark Teixeira, Nathan Eovaldi and Masahiro Tanaka.

Here are the exact quotes from Cashman courtesy of RAB:

  • Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) has finished his physical therapy following surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow. He’s heading home to Japan soon and will begin a throwing program. “He’s got a throwing program, so he should be good to go in the spring, but I’m sure we’ll be careful with him nonetheless,” said Cashman.
  • Mark Teixeira (shin) has shed his walking boot and is going through workouts. He’s not scheduled to begin running until after the holidays though. “He’s out of his boot. He’s, I’d say, healthy. He’s walking around, doing activities,” said the GM.

  • Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) is fine. He was ready to be added to the ALDS roster had the Yankees advanced. Eovaldi is going through his normal offseason routine. “No concern. He’s got a normal winter routine that he can execute,” said Cashman

Happy Birthday to the BYB Hub

On this day one year ago my good friend Robert Casey, owner and chief of Bleeding Yankee Blue, approached me with an idea that he called the BYB Hub. What the BYB Hub was designed to be was a central place for you, the baseball fan, to get all your news in one place… but with a twist. You aren’t going to see the ESPN news feed or the MLB.com recycled news articles here on the hub, you’re going to see the best of the best (in my opinion) of the up-and-coming and established bloggers on the internet.

The gorillas of the blogging world, for Yankees fans it’s places like River Ave Blues for instance, have their own market and they do their own thing. On the hub the focus is on the little guy that is just starting out or the aspiring writer and blogger that wants some new, and free I might add, exposure to their writing and their respective blogs.

See when blogs like Bleeding Yankee Blue, or own blog here at The Greedy Pinstripes and others started they were built without help for the most part. They were built on hard work, dedicated and a load support from everyone reading this blog post this morning. Casey, the great baseball mind and person that he is, wanted to give a new avenue to writers and the BYB Hub was born.

While Robert Casey and I run blogs centralized around the New York Yankees, and there are plenty of Yankees blogs on the hub if that’s what you’re looking for, the Hub was designed to feed a general MLB fan’s craving for news and opinions as well. There is a great Red Sox blog on the Hub, Section 36, an awesome blog centered around the Oakland Athletics, Bullpen Baseball and Sock Talk , and even a blog devoted to players in Major League Baseball with Dutchbackgrounds. There’s a little something for everybody.

I want to take this time to once again give my sincerest gratitude to and appreciation not only to Casey for starting the Hub but to all the great blogs and writers that participate in the Hub. We made it one year guys and gals, let’s make the second year even bigger and even better! So CLICKHERE and check out the BYB Hub and if you’d like to be a part of the Hub (or you know of a blog that should be included in the hub) contact Casey on Twitter by tweeting @BleednYankeeBlu or contact myself @GreedyStripes and I will contact Casey direct.

Have a great day everyone and Happy Birthday to the BYB Hub!

Update on the BYB Hub

From time to time we get one here and remind you guys about and update you on the BYB Hub, we haven't done one in a while so let's get to it. What is the BYB Hub? The Hub was thought of and created by the owner of Bleeding Yankee Blue (BYB) Robert Casey as a way to get everyone views and help with the hardest part of starting out, getting recognition. The Hub won't list sites like RAB, Lohud, Pinstripe Alley etc. because those guys get their views and they have their following and their readership. The Hub was designed to get the second tier and below the recognition they need and the recognition they deserve.

I respected the hell out of Mr. Casey before this and I really respect the hell out of him now for this. Not because we are listed there and it definitely helps us get views but because the Hub will list a blog that's only a month old and that has one post on it. Casey has a following and the readership to be right up there with the "gorilla's" of the Yankees blogosphere but rather than ignore your mentions and tweets on Twitter he wants to help you.

Anyway, I'm rambling now and not updating you on the hub like I said I would. Currently the Hub showcases 16 blogs that I try and read daily including The Greedy Pinstripes. There are plenty of talented writers out there and plenty of opinions to agree with, disagree with or garner ideas from.So check out the BYB Hub by clicking HERE and if you're interested in joining the Hub as an up and coming blogger follow and contact Mr. Casey on twitter HERE.

Alex Rodriguez and a Challenge

Monday my friend and fellow writer Jack Niemuth reported that Alex Rodriguez paid his cousin Yuri Sucrat (I know it’s Sucart but when you have to be paid by your flesh and blood not to tell on you and then you do it anyway, you’re a rat) $900,000 to keep is steroid use quiet. It’s just another day in the New York Yankees offseason before the 2015 season and another story concerning Alex Rodriguez.

I have a challenge for all you sports writers, bloggers, beat writers, etc. I fully understand and appreciate the fact that it’s your job to report on what’s going on. I can also relate to the fact that sometimes you put a misleading headline or harp on certain things to garner views and such. I get it, I do, but when Bryan Van Dusen and myself started this blog we wanted to do things a little different than most. We didn’t want to recycle the same garbage and the same posts and the same stats like everyone else because why would they come read us when they could read that on River Avenue Blues, Lohud, NJ.com, etc. Plus we want to do things our way because we are fans, we’re not paid and we don’t expect to ever get paid out of this venture we do it because we love to do it.

On to the challenge…. Can we go one day, I’m not asking a lot for just one day, without bashing A Rod? Can we go one day without dedicating this offseason to A Rod? Can we go one day without mentioning A Rod? Please? See what you can do and get back to me. Thanks.
