It took until the 2008 season for Major League Baseball to listen to the screams and get instant replay and wouldn't you know it, Alex Rodriguez was in the middle of the first controversy with replay. A Rod hit a towering fly ball that bounced off the Tropicana Field catwalk behind the foul pole in left field that was immediately called a home run. The Rays catcher Dioner Navarro disputed the call and two minutes and fifteen seconds later the umpires upheld the call on the field.

Mantle hit his 50th against the Detroit Tigers in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 5-5. Finally on this day in 1947 the Yankees beat the Red Sox 11-2 by hitting 18 hits in the game, all singles. Joe DiMaggio and Tommy Henrich led the barrage at Fenway Park with four hits each in the Yankees victory.

For the better part of a decade Alfonso Soriano was one of the premier hitters, stolen base threats, and home run hitters in all of Major League Baseball. Soriano entered the 30 home run and 30 stolen base club on this day in 2002 after hitting a home run in the seventh inning of the Seattle Mariners James Baldwin. Soriano was the first ever second baseman to join the 30/30 club joining Bobby Bonds as the only other Yankee to accomplish the feat. Bonds went 30/30 in 1975.

Yankee Stadium Legacy: #18 Tommy Henrich

Tommy Henrich was part of a talented New York Yankees trio that included Joe DiMaggio and Charlie Keller, making up one of the best outfields of the time. The Yankees outfield of the 1940's made opposing pitchers have a lot of sleepless nights. Henrich showed his strength specifically in 1941 by hitting a career high 31 home runs. In 1948 Henrich led the American League with 81 extra base hits for the Yankees.
