Zack Greinke to Donate 1% of Salary to Charity

Thank you to MSN Sports who bring us a little motivation and "feel good" to start out our Wednesday morning. Zack Greinke recently signed a monster deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks worth $206 million over the next six years. For those without a calculator that's roughly $34 million per season thanks to Tony LaRussa, DBacks GM Dave Stewart and Greinke's right arm. Greinke is set for life but that doesn't mean he is done giving back.

Greinke has agreed to give 1% of his salary to the Arizona Diamondbacks charity every single season he is with the team. If I did the math right that will be a $343,000 donation to the charity annually.

Torre, Cox, & LaRussa Elected To Hall of Fame

It's not every day that you see a manager the caliber of a Joe Torre, Bobby Cox, or a Tony LaRussa which really puts today into perspective. All three of these legendary managers are being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time which is really amazing if you think about it.

The 16 person Expansion Era committee unanimously elected Torre into the hall, the long time Yankees manager from 1996-2007.  Cox and LaRussa were also unanimously elected and that is the way it should be, all three of these gentleman are special.

Former Yankees manager Billy Martin, former Yankees pitcher Tommy John, and the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner were not elected to the hall. Former MLB Players Association head Marvin Miller was also not elected into Cooperstown today in case you were wondering.

Instant Replay Being Tested In The Arizona Fall League

Last year we heard talks of Major League Baseball implementing more instant replay in baseball last year but it was ultimately pushed back with the hope and expectation of it being expanded in 2014. Today we learned that the MLB is using new instant replay methods in the Arizona Fall League this year which is encouraging for all those in favor of it. The games where the instant replay will be expanded will be played starting on Tuesday November, 5th and will continue through Saturday November, 9th for a total of five games.

AFL umpires will be in the games that will be televised and will be under the microscope of the MLB and their officials and umpires during the games where the new protocols will be tested. This whole instant replay thing is being pushed heavily by former Yankees manager and current MLB Executive Vice President Joe Torre, Tony LaRussa, and others including Atlanta Braves President John Schuerholz.

This is just the first step as this will help the officials behind this draft a final plan that will then need to be approved by the Major League clubs, the Major League Baseball Player's Association, and the Worlds Umpire Association before being implemented for 2014.
