Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 4/4

The New York Yankees have enjoyed the friendly confides of Yankee Stadium thus far this season, but the team will head out on the road for their first road game today in Baltimore. In the Orioles home opener this afternoon, the Yankees will send James Paxton to the mound to face off with Baltimore’s starter Alex Cobb. These are not games the Yankees can afford to give away, no matter how early in the season it is, so let’s get to it here in Baltimore.

Paxton was great in his first start of the season against the Orioles, but the Yankees offense could not score enough to get Big Maple the victory. The team will look to do much better this afternoon against Cobb and the Orioles.

Cobb will make his season debut this afternoon for Baltimore after missing Opening Day with an injury that he sustained in his last start of spring training.

The game will be played at 3:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards and can be seen on the YES Network locally, MASN in the Baltimore/DC area, and on MLB TV wherever you and your device are. You can also follow along with the game on WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Enjoy the game and go Yankees!!

In the first of this three-game weekend set the Yankees will send out CC Sabathia to the mound to face off with Yefrey Ramirez for the Orioles. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on WPIX channel 11 in New York and on MASN in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/21

The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will begin a three-game weekend set in the Bronx tonight with the Yankees have everything to lose and the Orioles in the position to be the spoiler. Do not let your guard down, and do not give Buck Showalter a reason to sleep well this weekend. In the opener of the series the Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound to face off with former Yankees farmhand Yefrey Ramirez for the Orioles. Let’s get to it here in the Bronx.

Sabathia heads into the start tonight fresh off the shortest start of his 2018 season where he lasted just 2.1 inning pitched against the Toronto Blue Jays. In the start CC allowed five runs on seven hits including three home runs in a loss for New York. Sabathia has not pitched well against the Orioles this season posting a 0-1 record with a 6.00 ERA.

Ramirez has made three appearances for the Orioles against the Yankees since being traded to Baltimore in 2017 and has posted a 0-2 record with a 7.50 ERA. Ramirez has made two starts in those three appearances and one relief appearance, the relief outing coming on August 26 where the righty allowed no runs and just one hit in three innings of work.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on WPIX channel 11 in New York and on MASN in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. You can also follow along with the game on MLB TV, with the MLB At-Bat app, and by tuning into the Yankees radio broadcast on WFAN with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Enjoy the game, Yefry don’t make me miss you, and go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/16

And just like that ladies and gentleman it is time for baseball here in the Bronx between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. For the third time in this series these two will square off head-to-head with Jordan Montgomery taking the ball for the Yankees and Jeremy Hellickson taking the ball for Baltimore. The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Prediction: Yankees win 11-6

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/16

Good morning ladies and gentleman, well I guess it is technically afternoon but whatever, and welcome to Saturday baseball here in the Bronx. Unfortunately I will have to miss this game this afternoon because of the wedding I will be attending this afternoon but I will be there in spirit as the New York Yankees look to take down the Baltimore Orioles in the third game of this four-game set. This series was a matchup of two teams that were heading in completely opposite directions and that is seemingly how this series has gone with the Yankees beating up on the Orioles on Thursday night and looking to do so again throughout the weekend. I’d say I feel sorry for Baltimore right now because as a Yankees fan I’ve been in their position but maybe partly for that reason I don’t feel bad. Or maybe I’m just heartless. Stay tuned to find out which one it is!!! Enjoy the game.

Montgomery hasn’t been sharp since coming back as a September call up leaving the Yankees to wonder if the lefty has hit an innings wall. In Montgomery’s last start the Yankees southpaw lasted just 3.1 innings against the Texas Rangers allowing three runs on three hits extending his streak of starts where he has not completed at least five innings to three. Let’s snap that streak this afternoon in the Bronx, shall we?

Hellickson on the other hand had a great start last time out despite allowing two home runs in the start. Hellickson logged a quality start for Baltimore but needs to strikeout more batters if he wants to be effective going forward. Over Hellickson’s last five starts the right-hander has not struck out more than two batters in any start meaning the Yankees should make plenty of contact this afternoon in the Bronx. Let’s hope the wind is blowing out to right field this afternoon.

The game will be played at 4:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. You can’t see all the thumbs down when the Yankees bash out a few more home runs but you can hear the amazing home run calls by the legendary Sterling when they happen, so there’s always that. Need a win, get a win and take another step towards October baseball at the Orioles expense. Win, win, win. Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/15

You all hear that? It sounds like birds crying because it is game time between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. This is the second of this huge four-game set between these two clubs this weekend and will showcase the pitching matchup of Luis Severino for the Yankees and Gabriel Ynoa for the Orioles. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on WPIX channel 11, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Like the New York Lottery you may hear Orioles manager Buck Showalter crying after another drubbing by the Yankees offense tonight if you tune in, “Hey you never know.”

Prediction: Yankees win 12-7

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/15

The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles continue their four-game set this weekend tonight in the Bronx with the second game of the series. In the matchup tonight the Yankees will send another ace in Luis Severino to the mound hoping to take the Yankees one step closer to the postseason while the Orioles will counter with Gabriel Ynoa as Baltimore clings on to their own playoff lives. Put the nail in the Orioles coffin before those disgusting little birds start pooping all over the Yankees parade as they tend to be known to do. Enjoy the game!

Severino was the ace the Yankees needed once again in his last start against the Texas Rangers allowing just one run on one hit in seven innings of work. Severino struck out 10 in the contest as well before handing it over to the Yankees bullpen. Severino was dominant against Baltimore the last time the righty saw them as well on June 10 allowing just one run on two hits in seven innings of work.

Ynoa wasn’t great in his last start for the Orioles allowing three runs on seven hits in just 4.2 innings pitched. That kind of inconsistency is likely why this is the third time that Ynao is up with the Orioles big league club this season after posting a 5.25 ERA in Triple-A Norfolk here in 2017.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on WPIX channel 11, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Take one step closer to the postseason, need a win so get a win, and Go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 9/6

Ladies and gentleman it is game time in Baltimore as the Orioles stay home one last time this series to play host to their AL East Division rivals in the New York Yankees. In the finale of this three-game set the Yankees will send Sonny Gray to the mound looking for his third win inside Yankees pinstripes while Kevin Gausman and company look to play the spoiler for one of their most bitter rivals for the Orioles tonight. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards and can be seen on the YES Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast.

Follow us on Twitter by following @GreedyStripes and enjoy the game. Need a win, get a division win and take one step closer to the postseason. Keep the pressure on the Red Sox and most importantly, have fun. Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 9/6

The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will finish off their three-game set tonight inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards with a matchup of two potential aces for each ball club. The Yankees will send Sonny Gray to the mound who will be looking for a little bit of run support behind him for once while the Orioles will counter with Kevin Gausman who hasn’t needed much run support lately to win. The calendar is now in September and the regular season games are running out making each decision, each run and each contest all the more important.

Gray hasn’t received much run support since joining the Yankees as we alluded to earlier which may have contributed to his 2-4 start in six starts for the Bombers. Gray hasn’t been his dominant self either though and especially wasn’t in his last start against the Red Sox where he gave up four runs in seven innings of work including three home runs.

Gausman has posted a 2.55 ERA with 16 strikeouts in his last 17.2 innings and has been especially solid for Baltimore down the stretch. Gausman did not factor in the decision in his last start, a 13-inning affair the Orioles finally won on Friday night, but pitched well overall for Baltimore in the contest.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Oriole Park and Camden Yards and can be seen on the YES Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Enjoy the game, need a win so get a win, and go Yankees!!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 6/9

Friday night baseball here in the Bronx, now that is my idea of how you kick start a weekend. Tonight the New York Yankees and Yankee Stadium will play host to their American League East Division rivals the Baltimore Orioles. What will Buck Showalter complain about this time? Your guess is as good as mine. Tonight in the opener of the three-game set the Yankees will send Jordan Montgomery to the mound to square off with Dylan Bundy which should be a good pitching matchup. The game will have a bit of an odd start time at 7:35 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio with the WFAN broadcast.

Follow us on Twitter by following @GreedyStripes. Enjoy the game and your weekend. Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 6/9

The New York Yankees spent the week renewing a rivalry with the Boston Red Sox but you have to wonder if the Yankees true rival lately is even the Red Sox or if it is their opponents for the weekend, the Baltimore Orioles. I mean I don’t have any fancy stats or examples to back up a mere question and observation, I’m just asking. Are the Baltimore Orioles more of a rival than the Red Sox right now? I mean aside from the Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek scuffle from forever ago when have we seen these two not be just business as usual for the most part? Oh yeah, when Ryan Dumpster took four tries to INTENTIONALLY hit Alex Rodriguez. Sorry, couldn’t pass that up and no that isn’t a typo. He’s a dumpster. Anyway, on to tonight’s game.

Montgomery was much better in his last start throwing six shutout innings against the Toronto Blue Jays inside the Rogers Centre. Montgomery allowed just three hits in the start which was a breath of fresh air after his last start. The last time Montgomery faced the Orioles the lefty allowed three runs, one of them earned though, in just 4.1 innings. That was the shortest outing of his short MLB career.

Bundy, speaking of shortest starts of the season, heads into tonight’s start fresh off the shortest start of his season last time out. Bundy lasted just five innings in his last start against the Red Sox allowing two runs on four hits. That doesn’t sound like a terrible stat line but Bundy was at 100+ pitches when he left the game after just five innings.

The game will be played at 7:35 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MLB Network, MASN if you’re in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area and MLB TV wherever you and your device are. You can also tune into the WFAN broadcast in your cars and on the radio to listen to John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Enjoy the game, screw the birds and as always… Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 4/28

Game time in the Bronx as the New York Yankees head home to play host to the Baltimore Orioles in the first of a three-game set inside Yankee Stadium this weekend. In the opener the Yankees will send their veteran southpaw CC Sabathia to the mound to square off with the Orioles ace Kevin Gausman. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network, MASN and MLB TV. You can also follow along on the radio with WFAN’s John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.

Game Preview: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 4/28

The New York Yankees survived their trip to Fenway Park and looked pretty good doing it but nothing beats playing in front of the home crowd, something the Bronx Bombers will do tonight. The Yankees are back home inside Yankee Stadium to play host to the best team in the American League East and possibly the best team in the American League, the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound looking to slow down this powerful offense while the Orioles will counter with their ace and Opening Day starter Kevin Gausman.

Sabathia lost some of his early season magic in his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates and will look to regain some of that back tonight in the Bronx against the O’s. In that start Sabathia allowed four runs on seven hits in just five innings pitched including a couple home runs. Pitchers have short memories though, they have to be in order to be successful, and Sabathia will show that temporary amnesia tonight in the Bronx. Bet.

Gausman has not looked comfortable or right all season long for the Orioles, a trend that we hope continues tonight in the Bronx. Gausman has just one quality start this season and is fresh off a struggle against the Boston Red Sox in his last start where he gave up four runs in the first inning.

The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman’s broadcast on WFAN.

Go Yankees!!

Game Thread: New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles 9/30

Here we go ladies and gentleman, the final countdown. Three game and counting including tonight’s first matchup between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. Three games to decide it all and end a season. The Orioles will be heading to the postseason as a Wild Card team by all accounts and measures while the New York Yankees will be going home for a long, long winter unfortunately. In the first matchup between the two clubs the Yankees will send --- to the mound to square off with Yovani Gallardo for the Orioles. The game will be played at 7:05 pm ET inside Yankee Stadium and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. And MASN if you’re one of those Orioles fans and traitor types. I’m just saying.

It’s a sad feeling that I’m only going to be able to say GO YANKEES two more times after tonight. I’m not ready for the offseason. Not by a long shot. Make the best of these three games and let’s all go home.

Robert Refsnyder. I said his name three times today. Free him.

Yankees ST: New York Yankees @ Washington Nationals 3/23

Current Yankee vs. Future Yankee? Who knows, what I do know is that the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals will face off head-to-head today inside Washington's Space Coast Stadium in the latest between these two clubs this spring training. As the Grapefruit League schedule begins to wind down we are starting to see more mid-season type games and pitching match-ups and less of the fun and fruitful spring training games. This game is no exception as the New York Yankees send Masahiro Tanaka, the current Yankee, to the mound to face off against Stephen Strasburg, possibly a future Yankee?

The game will be played at 5:05 pm ET and can be seen on MASN locally in Washington and on MLB Network and MLB TV nationally. Enjoy and Go Yankees!
