Yankees Spring Training Open Thread 3/3

So what happened down in Yankees spring training camp today?

The New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies faced off in a non-televised spring training game and it may have been a good thing for the Yankees. The team lost 13-4.

Alex Rodriguez was a bright spot in the Yankees lineup hitting a two-run home run on the first swing he took this spring and on the second pitch he saw. Awesome!

Gary Sanchez drew wave reviews from the Yankees coaching staff but not because he drew two walks, no, it was because of his much improved defense behind the plate.

Ivan Nova looked good in two innings giving up just one run but Jacob Lindgren struggled a bit facing five batters walking three of them and hitting one other. The fifth you ask? He laid down a sacrifice bunt.

New Stadium Food Coming in 2015

If you guys have been reading this winter you guys know that I love stadium food and ballpark food so I was excited when I saw all the new and great food coming to a ballpark near you in 2015. From the St. Louis Cardinals breaded chicken waffle sandwich to the Milwaukee Brewers nachos on a stick I was salivating looking at the food around the league that I will share with you today. Get hungry Yankees family because baseball is back!

I love garlic fries and the Chicago White Sox are taking that to the next level with Parmesangarlic waffle fries that are showcased in the picture above. I'm sold, hey D Rob send me some tickets bro.  The Kansas City Royals will have a steak and cheese dog this year with your run of the mill hot dog, steak pieces and melted cheese on top. Where do I sign up? I think my ultimate favorite though has to go to the Houston Astros who came up with a chicken and waffle cone, seen below. It looks like little pieces of popcorn chicken, yum, inside a waffle cone, yum, with mashed potatoes and honey mustard sauce. Yum Yum Yum.

And to wash it all down? The Philadelphia Phillies will be serving hard liquor at the stadium in 2015. I guess they knew what the team was going to do on the field and made the tough decision out of necessity, just saying...

New York Yankees @ Philadelphia Phillies 3/2

Welcome back baseball, we missed you. Hopefully Elsa has been arrested for a while and we can get back to warm weather and the Yankees. Today the New York Yankees start their Grapefruit League schedule with a road contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. Not that Spring Training games mean much but the Phillies lost to a College Baseball team from Tampa late last week so that bodes well for the Yankees in this one.

Adam Warren will start the game for New York and will go two innings or around 30 pitches, whichever comes first, and will be followed by a pitching group led by Luis Severino and Jacob Lindgren. Andrew Bailey, although he has thrown five bullpen sessions, will not be available for the game for the Yankees unfortunately.

It’s Game one of the spring schedule so enjoy the game Yankees family and enjoy the rest of your day. As always, Go Yankees!
