Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 6/14

The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will finish off their three-game set tonight inside Angels Stadium of Anaheim with the Yankees looking to keep the good times rolling. This team is absolutely crushing the ball right now and have the pitching to boot which could be very scary going forward for the rest of the American League. Sure, the team has holes and flaws including starting pitching, first base and third base but they have the youth to overcome that either with promotions or trades. One step at a time though, finishing this series would be nice before we start printing playoff and World Series tickets, so let’s get to tonight’s contest that will showcase Michael Pineda for the Yankees taking on Matt Shoemaker for the Angels.

Pineda was brilliant in his last start holding the Red Sox to just one unearned run and four hits in seven innings of work. Pineda had eight strikeouts in that start which gave Pineda his sixth quality start in his last seven outings. Let’s make that an even seven out of eight tonight.

Shoemaker on the other and was not so sharp in his last start against the high-powered Houston Astros allowing four runs on seven hits in seven innings of work. Shoemaker hasn’t had great outing against the Yankees either in just two career starts pitching to a 0-2 record with a 4.05 ERA.

The game will be played at 10:07 pm ET inside Angel Stadium and Anaheim and can be seen on the YES Network, ESPN and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by tuning into the WFAN broadcast with Mr. and Mrs. Baseball, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman. Enjoy the game and as always…. Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 6/13

The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are set to kick off the middle game of their three-game set here in Anaheim with another stellar pitching matchup. The Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound who has been stellar in his last month or so worth of starts while the Angels will counter with JC Ramirez. The game will be played at 10:07 pm ET inside Angel Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. You can also follow along on the radio and in your cars by tuning into the WFAN broadcast.

So I know I asked a similar question when the New York Yankees last made the trip to Tropicana Field to square off with the Tampa Bay Rays but I will ask the same question again this afternoon. If the Yankees play on the West Coast in the middle of the damn night and no one on the East Coast is there to see it, did it really happen? I mean, really. I know I go on this whole “I hate West Coast games” rant every single season but I can’t help it. I hate West Coast games. Anyway, tonight the Yankees will face off with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the second of their three-game set this week in Anaheim. The Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound looking for his sixth straight victory while the Angels will counter with JC Ramirez.

Sabathia heads into this start looking for his sixth straight victory of the season and comes in fresh off eight shutout innings against the Boston Red Sox in his last start. In those five starts Sabathia is posting a 1.11 ERA while holding opponents to a .212 batting average.

Ramirez was not sharp in his last start against the Detroit Tigers like Sabathia was against the Red Sox. In that start Ramirez yielded four runs on 10 hits in just five innings of work. Ramirez will have to do better than that if he wants to beat the Yankees powerful offense tonight though in Anaheim.

The game will be played at 10:07 pm ET inside Angel Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. You can also follow along in your cars and on the radio by listening to WFAN. Me personally? 5:00 am comes far too early for me to stay up for these West Coast games so I’ll likely be snoozing by the time this is an official game. Either way, enjoy and Go Yankees!

Game Thread: New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8/21

Here we go ladies and gentleman as the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim finish off their three game set this weekend inside sunny California. In the finale of the three game set the Yankees will send another young arm to the mound looking to find his way in Chad Green while the Angels will counter with a new piece to their rotation in Jhoulys Chacin. The game will be played at 3:35 pm ET inside Angels Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen locally on the YES Network as well as MLB TV wherever you are.

After the game the Yankees head north to Seattle to take on Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners so if you live in the Seattle area and want to see the game live or if you simply want to have your seats reserved for when the team returns home to the Bronx click the Yankees Tickets link at the top of the blog.

Chacin vs. Chad Green. Let's go. Follow along during this game and any game this season by either liking our page on Facebook or by giving our Twitter handle @GreedyStripes a follow. Go Yankees!

Which MLB Ball Park Should You Visit?

Let's say you only have time to see one more MLB stadium before you go, which stadium should it be? That's a hard decision to make for some. Sure, you have the stadium of your home team but it's likely that you've been there a few hundred times in a lot of cases. What about a rival's stadium? You may or may not have visited this stadium but do you really want to head into enemy territory for your final stadium visit or ultimate stadium visit? Decisions, decisions, decisions but that's where Fox Sports is here to help.

Fox Sports has developed a quiz that asks a few questions about your ultimate stadium viewing and visiting experience and chooses the stadium that you should cross of your bucket list and head out to visit. To take the quiz CLICK HERE and you can see below for an example of the results as the quiz gave me Yankee Stadium. I kind of thought that was coming by some of the questions asked but I answered honestly anyway and this is what I got. Leave your choice in the comments section below or tweet us them @GreedyStripes.

Only the Coliseum in Rome can match the grandiose of Yankee Stadium. It's massive, grand and a tribute to the House That Ruth Built. Though it's not the historic ballpark that sat across the street, it's still a must-see for any baseball fan.

The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will finish off their three game set this afternoon with a game that us on the East Coast can actually watch without staying up  half the damn night. I have a serious beef with West Coast games and MLB schedule makers, I just wanted to make sure that came through in some of my blog posts here. There's no reason a Saturday game cannot be played in the afternoon like today's afternoon game but I digress. In the finale of the series the Yankees will send Chad Green to the mound looking for a repeat of his last start while the Angels will counter with Jhoulys Chacin.

Green was absolutely stellar in his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays as he led the Yankees with six shut-out innings against a tough offense. Green had a perfect game heading into the fifth inning and struck out 11 in the Yankees only victory of the series.

Chacin has only been back in the Yankees rotation for two starts now and with any player who was removed from the rotation the expected lack of stamina has hit Chacin hard. Chacin has only been able to give the Angels six innings combined in two starts and last faced the Yankees in June, a start that resulted in five runs allowed, seven hits and a loss for Los Angeles.

The game will be played at 3:35 pm ET inside Angels Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen on the YES Network and MLB TV. Let's crush these geographically confused group of 25 MLB ball players and let's get traveling to the rainiest place in the continental United States, shall we? Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8/20

Another late night out in Los Angeles tonight for both the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as these two teams continue with their three game set. The first set had the Yankees throwing their ace Masahiro Tanaka to the mound and tonight they send out another exciting arm in Luis Cessa. I’m excited to see what the kid can do when he is given more than a one or two week audition in the show. Sent to the mound opposing Cessa will be newly acquired right-handed starting pitcher for the Angels Ricky Nolasco.

Cessa makes his first MLB start tonight for the Yankees after spending time in the Triple-A rotation and the big league bullpen in 2016. Cessa’s ERA in the Major Leagues has not been impressive, it’s 5.30 this season, but again this has come in one or two week intervals and usually his appearances came as needed because of a short bullpen. Cessa can and will be better and he will look to prove that to everyone tonight in Anaheim.

Nolasco has not recorded a victory since being traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Angels, a streak that has spanned three starts, although his first win could come against the Yankees. Nolasco pitched them tough last time he saw them in June allowing just two runs to the Bronx Bombers.

The game will be played at 9:35 pm ET inside Angels Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen live on WPIX Channel 11, MLB Network and of course MLB TV. The future is now so why not throw guys like Chad Green and Luis Cessa out there, right? I mean I know Brian Cashman’s options are limited at this point, especially with the struggles of Luis Severino that have been well documented here and everywhere else on the web, but I’m glad to see him sticking to his guns rather than pulling off a dumpster dive move for a veteran. You know. Kind of like the Angels did in a losing season for Ricky Nolasco. Too soon? Here, apply this directly to the burn. Go Yankees!

Game Preview: New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8/19

The New York Yankees made the trip across the country to the beautiful state of California to take on the team that doesn’t know what part of California they want to be affiliated with, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County of Disney World of the Golden Gate Bridge. In all seriousness though the Yankees begin a series with Mike Trout and the Angels tonight at possibly the perfect time for New York as Los Angeles has really struggled over the past two-to-three weeks losing many, many games. Will the Yankees continue to hand the Angels “L’s” or will they fall into the trap? The man donned with the mission to do the former and not the latter for the Yankees is Masahiro Tanaka while the Angels will counter with Jered Weaver looking for a victory of his own.

Tanaka has won each of his last two starts for the Yankees while striking out eight opposing batters in each of those two victories. Tanaka looks to make that three in a row tonight in Los Angeles as he also looks to end the Yankees mini two-game losing streak.

Weaver on the other hand was not great in his last start or the two starts prior to that as well. In fact Weaver has lost each of his last three decisions including a five run and 10 hits allowed effort last time out against the Cleveland Indians. Yeah, more like that tonight Jered please.

The game will be played at 10:05 pm ET inside Angel Stadium of Anaheim and can be seen on Fox Sports One and MLB TV. Thank goodness this is a Friday game because I’ve been sick all week and the thought of staying up until 1:00 am or even 2:00 am on a weekday doesn’t really excite me like it used to. I’ll do what I have to do to root for my boys though, believe that. Go Yankees!
