Game Thread: NYY @ BAL 5/22

The Yankees outfield rotation continues tonight as Brett Gardner sits and Ichiro, Vernon Wells, and Curtis Granderson get the call tonight against the Orioles. Tonight is the final game of the series and the winner of the game tonight wins the series so let's hope Hiroki Kuroda is bringing him A+ game tonight. Use this thread to chat during the game or follow us on twitter @GreedyStripes to chat with us there all season long.

Here is the Yankees lineup

Curtis Granderson CF
Robinson Cano 2B
Vernon Wells LF
Travis Hafner DH

Reid Brignac SS
Austin Romine C

Yankees Interested In Masahiro Tanaka

Masahiro Tanaka is the 24 year old right handed starting pitcher currently pitching for the Japanese League team Rakuten Golden Eagles that is set to be posted after the 2013 season. The Yankees have stayed away from Japanese League pitching for the most part since the Kei Igawa and Hideki Irabu fiascoes but maybe the emergence of Yu Darvish and Hiroki Kuroda can change their mind a little because he is pitching well in the Japanese League. He has missed some time over his young career with shoulder inflammation and shoulder strains but has put up a 1.57 with a 9 K/9 rate since the beginning of the 2012 season. There are obvious concerns with his health, whether his stuff can translate to the majors, mechanics, etc but the Yankees have to strike gold with a Japanese pitcher eventually, no?

New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 5/22

This Day In Yankees History 5/22

On this day in 1922 the Yankees, who are currently sharing the Polo Grounds with the New York Giants, begin building the original Yankees Stadium in the Bronx.

On this day in 1962 Roger Maris was intentionally walked four times in one game setting a major league record for a single game. The Yankees would beat the California Angels 2-1 in this game.

On this day in 1999 Roger Clemens breaks the American League record for consecutive wins when he would win his 18th consecutive game. He mixed in ten no decisions in the mix just as an FYI.
