Sabathia gives up 6 runs in first two innings as Yanks drop opener to Astros

Team "ace" CC Sabathia gave up 6 earned runs in 6 innings of work and the offense as a whole collected just two hits through their seven at-bats tonight as the Yankees again lost on opening day to the Astros, 6-2. Going into this one, I'll admit I had some really high hopes for #52, but obviously I was wrong. Apparently, nothing has changed with him. He's still terrible.

Anyway, in tonight's eighth inning the Yanks kinda rallied, putting across two runs thanks to a couple of RBI Singles from Brian McCann and Mark Teixeira. But besides that, I really can't think of any positives. I guess Vidal Nuno and Dellin Betances both throwing scoreless frames of relief was kinda cool, but still, this game was depressing. Definitely not a good way to start a championship year.

Yangervis Solarte has been arrested for armed robbery, April Fools. No really, he should be though. Not only did Solarte steal the 40 man roster spot and last bench spot from Eduardo Nunez but today announced that he would be wearing his old #26 also. Too soon bro?

This Day In New York Yankees History 4/1

You know there hasn't been any Yankees history that we want to repeat on this day in Yankee history. We could talk about Jackie (Jesus) Bradley Jr. getting jerked off for four hours last year on Opening Day when he walked three times, scored twice, and robbed Robinson Cano of a hit in a 8-2 Boston Red Sox victory at Yankee Stadium. Oh and it was a big deal apparently because he was the first to wear "Jr." on the back of his jersey.

We could also talk about how the New York Mets stole away Duke Snider from the Yankees in 1963 when New York tried to get him to be the backup for Mickey Mantle before Snider went to Queens and made the All Star Game.

But we won't.

Happy Opening Day 2014!
