Press Release: George M. Steinbrenner Field Renovations Underway

Construction Underway at
George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa
From the new Loge Boxes and shaded Cabanas, to the construction of a two-story gift shop, George M. Steinbrenner Field is evolving and changing the way fans will experience Tampa Yankees games and Spring Training games. The $40 million renovation project began in August and is expected to continue until pitchers and catchers report in February.

"The Tampa community and Yankees fans who visit Hillsborough County deserve the best possible facility to enjoy spring training games and other events held year-round at Steinbrenner Field," said Tony Bruno, Yankees Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Yankee Global Enterprises. "The renovations, which include an increased number of fan-friendly vantage points, social gathering spaces and shaded areas, will provide our guests with the modern amenities necessary for an exceptional game day experience. We are equally excited about furthering the Yankees' commitment to the Tampa community and look forward to unveiling a beautiful facility for our fans to enjoy for years to come."

Excitement is building so stay tuned for more details on the renovation project as well as the release of the Tampa Yankees 2017 schedule and ticket on-sale date.

Yankees Send Two to AFL All-Star Game

The Arizona Fall League has their own All-Star Game much like Major League and Minor League Baseball does and that All-Star Game will be played this Saturday, November 5th. MLB Network and MLB.com will showcase the game at 8:00 pm ET this Saturday and in the game we will see, as it stands right now anyway, 16 of the Top 100 prospects in all of Major League Baseball competing in the contest. Included on these impressive rosters is

The list of Yankees prospects attending the East Team All-Stars is right-handed pitcher Dillon Tate and infielder Gleyber Torres. Torres is the highest ranked prospect in the game according to MLB.com rankings now that the Boston Red Sox have decided to shut down Yoan Moncada for the winter after Moncada suffered a thumb injury.

There is a final vote list that you can vote on as well for both teams and Miguel Andujar, the Yankees third base prospect, is on it so this list could climb to three for the Yankees.

Didi Gregorius 2016 Highlights

The Yankees shortstop. The man that replaced Derek Jeter. The man, the myth and in my very humble and bias opinion the soon-to-be legend when it's all said and done... Didi Gregorius ladies and gentleman.

World Series Game 7 Preview: Chicago Cubs @ Cleveland Indians

And it all comes down to this..... Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. Tonight we finally answer the question of which World Series drought will come to an end. Will it be the drought of the Cleveland Indians who have not won a World Series since the 1948 Fall Classic or will it be the long-suffering Chicago Cubs and their fans who have not won a World Series since the 1908 season? We are just a few hours away from finding out and I just can't wait for it.

In this decisive Game 7 where winner takes all Terry Francona will send Corey Kluber to the mound for the Indians while Joe Maddon will send Kyle Hendricks to the mound with the city of Chicago and the Curse of the Billy Goat on his back and shoulders.

Hendricks led all of MLB in ERA in 2016 and will get the ball tonight looking to do what he did all season long, keep the other team off the scoreboard. Hendricks has done just that in his last two starts allowing zero runs combined while also lowering his postseason ERA to 1.31.

Kluber has been awesome this postseason and has already given the Indians victories in Game 1 and Game 4 of the World Series. Kluber will once again be pitching on short rest, the third time in a row actually, in the must-win game for both teams. Kluber has made five starts this postseason and has posted a 0.89 ERA thus far for Cleveland.

The game will be played at 8:08 pm ET and can be seen on FOX. Game 7... it all comes down to this.

Weekly AFL Check In: Miguel Andujar

Miguel Andujar is having himself a time down in Arizona with the Scottsdale Scorpions and he isn't only putting his name on the Yankees radar but the radar of other teams as well. As you may or may not remember Miguel is eligible for the Rule 5 Draft this offseason so every team presumably is down there watching him put on his show.

The Yankees will protect him though so no worries, especially after this AFL season, bet.

This Day in New York Yankees History 11/2: A Legend is Born!

On this day in 1985 a great Yankees fan Daniel Burch was born in Lebanon Hospital in the Bronx, New York. He would go on to co-own and create the "greatest Yankees blog ever" in his own very humble and biased opinion. Hey it was a slow day in New York Yankees history, sue me.

Also on this day in 1964 the Columbia Broadcasting System becomes the first corporate owner of a Major League Baseball team when they bought 80% of the New York Yankees. Dan Topping and Del Webb sold the stake in the Yankees for a staggering $11.2 million at the time. The Yankees would reward CBS with a sixth place finish in the American League and a second place finish in the American League East in their first year of ownership with a 77-85 record.
