Jim Miller May Be The Next DFA When Ichiro Signs

The Yankees claimed a plethora of relievers off waivers early in the off season hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and now it seems like they are all being designated for assignment these days for veteran free agents. We saw Josh Spense DFA'd today to make room for Kevin Youkilis and now with the Ichiro Suzuki signing to become official any day now I think Jim Miller may be next. The Yankees claimed Jim off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on November 30th and he may be back on waivers when the Yankees sign Ichiro. Looking at the 40 man roster I see him as the only obvious guy to go. We all know how bad I am at predictions though so keep it here for all the latest news.

Video : Ichiro Suzuki 2012 Highlights

Continuing with the positive vibe we will continue to look back at the 2012 season by looking at the highlights of the campaign for Ichiro Suzuki. For our intents and purposes we will limit this to his time with the Yankees because frankly I do not care what he did in Seattle. Enjoy and if you feel like something was omitted, like his first hit or home run as a Yankee coincidentally, then please comment. Enjoy!

Video : Derek Jeter 2012 Highlights

The off season is in it's slow period and the hot stove is about dead, especially in New York, so I am going to be looking back at the positive's from 2012 with these videos. Enjoy and comment if the video maker missed anything!!

CC Sabathia On Regular Schedule Following Surgery

CC Sabathia had an off season surgery to remove bone spurs in his left throwing elbow and everything seems to be fine because he is still on schedule to do his normal throwing routine. The last few seasons CC has started throwing shortly after Christmas and this year thankfully will be no different according to Jeff Bradley of NJ.com. Sabathia will be entering his age 32 season with a "modified" throwing schedule this year in Spring Training much like Derek Jeter following his ankle surgery but he says his range of motion is back and feels great so I will take him at his word. CC claims he will be ready for Spring Training and Opening Day and that is all that I need to know or hear.

Yankees Designate Josh Spence For Assignment

The Yankees have designated reliever Josh Spence for assignment to make room for newly acquired Kevin Youkilis on the 40 man roster. The Yankees claimed Josh way back on November 6th from the San Diego Padres and DFA him today. At only 24 years old I would have liked to have given a guy with a 9.2 K/9 and a low 3 ERA more of a shot but maybe he falls and goes to AAA.

Video : Mark Teixeira Takes Out Bobby Wilson At Home

I thought the name Bobby Wilson sounded familiar for some reason and now I remember. The video is really  a bad quality but you get the idea of it all. Here is Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira knocking Bobby Wilson out at home plate in a game in 2010. If memory serves Bobby Wilson would leave the game after that home plate collision. Maybe Mark will call Bobby much like Joba Chamberlain called newly acquired, pending a physical, Kevin Youkilis after throwing at his head a few times. Here is the video, enjoy! Unless your a relative of Bobby Wilson or a Bobby Wilson fan, then you probably shouldn't watch.

Yankees Make Kevin Youkilis Signing Official

The Yankees and Kevin Youkilis have officially agreed upon a one year deal worth $12 million to have Kevin Youkilis play 3B for the Yankees for the majority of the 2013 season. This was agreed upon pending a physical so apparently Youk has passed that and is good to go for 2013. As much as I am letting the whole rivalry thing keep me from liking Kevin I am glad that he is here because he grinds out at bats and comes with a ton of AL East, big game, and post season experience. Welcome to New York Kevin!

Ichiro Video Knocking Down 4 Bats W/ 4 Throws

I saw this on MLB Network's Hot Stove program this morning and I thought that this was absolutely amazing that I just had to share it. Ichiro is doing a commercial in Japan and he throws four baseballs and knocks down four baseball bats at home plate. If things do not work out in 2014 with Ichiro in the outfield I think we found our replacement for Andy Pettitte in the rotation. Enjoy!

Not to downgrade what he did, because it was nothing short of amazing, but he did show a little bit of his human side when he did not do it in his first try. Darn...
