John Sterling's Home Run Call For David Adams

John Sterling is known for his annoying, yet catchy, home run calls for Yankees players and with David Adams first home run of his major league career we finally heard his. "David.... is Goliath" will be heard from John Sterling on every David Adams home run. I like it!

Game Thread: NYY @ BAL 5/20

The Yankees are fresh coming off an unscheduled day off yesterday and heading into Camden Yards with two of their three best pitchers going so confidence is high. The Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound after his start yesterday was washed away and we will see a familiar face in Freddy Garcia tonight. We SHOULD bomb Sweaty Freddy so I am a little scared at this point. Use this thread to chat during the game or follow us on Twitter @GreedyStripes and tweet with us all season long.

Here is the Yankees lineup

Brett Gardner CF
Robinson Cano 2B
Travis Hafner DH
Lyle Overbay 1B
Curtis Granderson LF
David Adams 3B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Reid Brignac SS
Austin Romine C

Former Yankees Update Matt Diaz

Apparently I missed this about a month ago but former Yankee Matt Diaz continued the trend of former Yankees players signing with the Miami Marlins this season. Matt signed a minor league deal with the Marlins and was assigned to their AAA New Orleans team before being called up to the big league club earlier this month. Matt is batting .167/.211/.222 in 19 plate appearances for the Miami Marlins this season so apparently we made the right choice in releasing him. Good luck Matty!

Former Yankees Update David Aardsma

David Aardsma has had quite the year this season in 2013. Thought originally to be a lock in the Yankees bullpen he was released about a week before the Yankees broke camp to start the season against the Boston Red Sox. David then found himself signing a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins that contained a May 15th opt out clause. David exercised that opt out clause and became a free agent only to be pursued by the Japanese League and various major league teams looking for minor league deals. David now has signed one of those minor league deals to come back to New York, this time with the New York Mets. This should be exciting because it is another team that David has a legit shot at making the majors with so good luck once again to David and his family not only in his baseball career but in his life all around.

Mark Teixeira Plays In Simulated Game

Mark Teixeira tweeted today that he went 1-2 with a double and a walk against his first live pitching since his wrist injury way back in Spring Training. I don't want to get too excited too fast because he is still a long way from the Bronx but this is a huge step in his recovery. Granted it was only a simulated game against minor league pitching but it is what it is at this point and this is progress for Mark and the Yankees.

New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles 5/20

The Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles start a three game series after the Yankees got rained out last night in Yankees Stadium. The Yankees have pushed back CC Sabathia to pitch tonight and will skip Vidal Nuno and allow him to pitch out of the bullpen for the week. The Baltimore Orioles will send former Yankee Freddy Garcia to the mound to face off with the Yankees ace. The game will be televised at 7:05 pm ET on YES, ESPN, and on MLB TV.

Game 44 Lineup: Yankees @ Orioles

Brett Gardner CF
Robinson Cano 2B
Travis Hafner DH
Lyle Overbay 1B
Curtis Granderson LF
David Adams 3B
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Reid Brignac SS
Austin Romine C

LHP CC Sabathia

Some Notes:

-- Coming into tonight's game, the Yankees are 18-0 when they score first in a game and are 24-0 when they lead after seven innings. Something tells me they're doing something right.

-- The Yankees will skip Vidal Nuno's start, and will put him in the bullpen for the Orioles series. CC Sabathia is on the mound tonight, Phil Hughes (who had an atrocious start last time) takes the hill tomorrow while Hiroki Kuroda will pitch on Wednesday.

This Day In Yankees History 5/20

On this day in 2012 a Babe Ruth 1920 jersey was sold at auction fetching $4,415,658, the largest ever piece of sports memorabilia sold according to auctionreport.com. Reports say that this was worn in his first season as a Yankee after being traded over from the Boston Red Sox.
