Yankees @ Orioles 5/1/12

UPDATE:

Yankes lose 7-1

The Grandy Man Can! Granderson hits his 9th home run, to tie Josh Hamilton for the AL lead, but the Yankees are down 3-1 after 4 IP.

Phil Hughes has given up home runs to JJ Hardy and Chris Davis for all three runs given up tonight. Hughes fails to give the Yankees length again as he is well into the 80 pitch count in the 5th inning.
Less Praying... More Strike Outs Please!

Tonight the Yankees will host the Baltimore Orioles at the stadium for the 2nd game of this three game series. Phil Hughes will be on the mound for the Yankees and will be facing Brian Matusz. The game will be on at 7:05 pm ET and will be broadcasted on YES.

Hopefully May will be a better month for the likes of Phil Hughes and Mark Teixeira to name a few.

Here is the lineup

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Andruw Jones RF
Russell Martin DH
Eduardo Nunez LF
Chris Stewart C

Brett Gardner & Michael Pineda Update

Joe Girardi said that he did not think Brett Gardner would be able to come off the DL on Thursday, when first eligible, against the Kansas City Royals. Brett was scheduled to take live batting practice for the first time since going on the DL with elbow issues but at the time of this post we did not know how that went. The Yankees want Brett to be in a game or two of rehab before coming back up to the majors so I am still OFFICIALLY leading the Bobby Abreu watch.

Michael Pineda's labrum surgery went well today according to the doctor, which is always a good sign. The normal timetable to be out is a full year, so May 1st 2013, but I am already hearing rumors that he COULD be back in as soon as 10 months. Medicine is getting better and better every day so it is very possible, especially with as young as Pineda is, to have him back to start the season next year.... but let us not get TOO ahead of ourselves. Get well Michael!
