NEWS! Youkilis Is A Yankee

To the surprise of nobody that reads The Greedy Pinstripes, Ken Rosenthal reports that Kevin Youkilis has accepted their offer of 1 year and $12 million.

Spring Training is set to begin on February 12th 2013 as pitchers and catchers will report to Legends Field in Tampa, Florida. This is a big date to keep on your schedule especially if the off season is as normally cold and boring in the January and February months like they generally tend to be. BOLDED are predictions that we will sign.

There is no such thing as a bad minor league deal in my opinion so here is a list of guys that, if willing to sign, I would throw out minor league deals and invites to:

LHP Mike Gonzalez
RHP Cory Wade
RHP Peter Moylan
RHP Derek Lowe
LF Johnny Damon
CF Grady Sizemore
2B Placido Polanco

World Series caliber team? Probably not in my opinion. The pitching seems to be stacked on paper but that lineup and bench should not scare many anymore. Granted Alex Rodriguez will be back in June or July but how will he come back? After a second hip surgery we cannot really count on him for anything much like we cannot count on Michael Pineda at all either. Although at the same time Pineda and Alex Rodriguez may be the best mid season additions that we can make and they will not cost a thing.

Also obviously we have many trade pieces including David Phelps, Adam Warren, and all of our lower level guys that could fetch us big time pieces like Chase Headley or Justin Upton but I think Cashman would have already gotten that done had it been plausible.

I am really worried about the 2013 season but then again it is December 11th so I will wait patiently and hope for the best, but I am preparing for the worst. Maybe the Mayans were right... the Yankees are not spending after all.

Yankees Opt Out Of Stubhub Deal, Opt For Ticketmaster

The Yankees have opted out of Major League Baseball's secondary ticket market agreement with the ever popular Stubhub, who I use personally, in favor of ticketmaster. The reasoning behind it is this will keep tickets more price friendly with less fee's and if that is the truth then who could not get behind that? I know personally stubhub, especially for Yankees games on the road, the prices become ballooned just because people like me only get to see the Yankees in Atlanta once every four or five years so the owner knows I will pay it, and I do happily I may add. Either way I cannot see this being a huge deal either way to Joe Fan like you and I but I am sure there was a fiscal reason behind this. Oh well, just get me my tickets I do not care who I have to go through.
