It was inevitable, as he was pretty far down on the starting pitching depth chart, but Chien-Ming Wang has been granted his release after exercising an opt-out clause in his contract.
It was reported last week that six clubs were interested in CMW, however Wang was looking for a Major League contract and apparently none of those teams were willing to go there with him at the time. I don't know if things have changed on that front, but it was only a matter of time before a team would need another starter.
Wang started 9 games for a total of 58 innings with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and had an ERA of 2.33.
EDIT: Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Wang will sign with the Blue Jays, and join their rotation next week.
