Second Annual Prospects Month Is Now Over

Wow, what a month this has been. Yankees games are right around the corner and so are minor league camps around the league. It is amazing to me to think how far we have come since our first Prospects Month here on the blog. Last year on about January 24th I thought to myself "hey it would be great to make February all about prospects" and the rest is history. I rushed to get together content, write up articles, try and interview players, and bring all the prospects information I could bring. It was hectic, it was hard, my wife hated me for it, but it was done.

This year I have been working on this, granted off and on, since early November and will probably start earlier next season. It's been hectic again, it's been hard, but it's been fun. All the interviews, all the Meet a Prospect posts, the Top 28 Prospects list, all of it has been a blast. I just hope that you guys reading this enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. Maybe next year we can get a few more of our readers involved and bring more opinions and articles.

Until next year.... now let's get to work with the big league Yankees!

  1. I enjoyed it too. Although our opinions have differed slightly. That's what makes it fun though, right?

  2. Thank you sir. It was a lot of hard work but it was fun and I think everybody enjoyed it. That's what makes it all worth it.

  3. Very good list Young man, not a bad list at all.
I would have made a change or two, as would anyone reading it. Not because you are wrong...it is because picking these guys is somewhat subjective!
DePaula is one of your stellar players, nothing wrong with that, as I have two guys you may not have figured into your list at all. How about Danny Burawa RHP or Fred Lewis LHP for the BP this year?
A guy I am going to keep an eye on is Aaron Judge, I have never seen him play at all so I can't say for sure he will make it to the Big Show in the next few years , or not at all. I do like what I have been able to dig up about him.
If you get a chance to see him play...at Charleston I think. Take a gander at him and see what he has to offer the Home Team...if anything!

    1. What changes to the list would you make? I'm curious.

Danny Burawa just doesn't impress me as much as others. Fred Lewis has too many lefties in front of him, even if he has been better than most of them.

    2. Are you kidding me? I have no problem with your list at all! I only hope most of them pan out, the sooner the better!
I only pointed them out as pitchers to watch, this year! From what I have been able to read about them (From 4 different sources) It seems they are a tweak away from breaking out. Aaron Judge has impressed many with his power although he SOs too much yet and has no real position on the field...Yet!
I thought...as you live way down under...you might see them in action!

    3. Aaron Judge has yet to get into a game, excited to see those Giancarlo Stanton comparisons work out

    4. I think I will really like the new system a lot, I have said for years; Just because a player makes a fantastic play doesn't mean he is a real good fielder. He had to make it a great play because he is NOT a great fielder at all. Just look at the play Anna made yesterday...now that is a great play! Or a play we have seen Cano make many times...running in on a soft hit ball grabbing it and then throwing across his body to get the guy at first. As we saw yesterday, not everyone can make that play!
I think you and I have been Anna backers, I know I have been. Hope to see him go north with the team...he can play in the Show! I know, one game, one play, doesn't make a player a sure thing for the big time but, let's see if he can back it up.
As for Judge, I am more like a wait and see on him but again, with his tools and power!!! Heck, I know 85% of the players that have big hype don't make it to "A" ball let alone the big time.

    6. I thought you were but, I was not sure, that is way I hedged my bet! I only had some tapes and stats to go by and didn't see him in person but, what I saw in his two games (that I have seen)...he is a player! Great range, arm, speed, quickness and a good bat. I don't see a lot of power there, not the way he hits, but I do see someone that could hit in the .280 to .300 range, key word is...Could.

    7. Yeah after I watched that video of him working out and talking I knew his passion and love for the game was pretty intense. He definitely will not let anyone outwork him.

    8. Anna is in the 4 to 5 best productive years of his playing career at 27 years old. By the time he is on the wrong side of 33 we should have one of the guys out of the GCL (Avelino) to take over at SS for many years.
Makes sense to keep him...in my humble opinion!
