Yankee Stadium Legacy: #31 Gil McDougald

Gil McDougald made his presence felt from the very beginning in New York winning the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 1951. McGougald also had six hits and seven RBI's in the World Series that year en route to a Fall Classic Championship in a win over the Giants. McDougald would go to the World Series seven more time with the Yankees and was also  named to the MLB All Star Game on six different occasions.

31 days until Yankees Opening Day.

  1. Gil was a very good player for the Yankees, he was a super utility player. He was a player that played every day at any position they wanted him to play, but he usually played one position for the year. I think he was part of 5 WS wins!
He hit a line drive off Herb Scores face, it was the end of Herb...sorry to say! Herb was on the fast track to become one of the best pitchers of his time...late 50'!
