ICYMI: McCarthy Open To Returning To Bronx In 2015

In case you missed it Brandon McCarthy pitched a complete game shutout gem against the Houston Astros on Thursday and was asked about his 2015 plans after the game. McCarthy is in his age 31 season and has posted a 1.90 ERA while wearing pinstripes after struggling mightily in Arizona with the Diamondbacks. McCarthy is also in the second season of a two year deal he signed with Arizona worth $18 million.

Here is the exact quote from McCarthy:

“Yeah. There wouldn’t be a question in my mind about that,” he said when asked about returning to New York. “I feel like it’s a great fit for me here. The guys here have been fantastic, everybody associated with the club. And it’s living in New York — there’s so many great aspects.”

I don't think anyone can expect McCarthy to be the absolute ace he has been in his 52 innings with the Yankees but his veteran presence and sinking fastball and cutter he may be a great signing for the Yankees in 2015. If McCarthy could be had on another two year deal worth $25 million-ish I wouldn't be terribly upset with that to essentially take Hiroki Kuroda's spot in the rotation next season.
